The reason for an upgrade my 24' monitor: my eyes getting sore trying to focus on long distance targets on Apex Legends without a scope.

Going bigger will help for sure, but is it really worth to pay almost double the cost to go 2K with a tad even larger screen? I'm afraid the 31' will be too much for me (both monitors are curved)

Or do you suggest going neither and picking a 27' 2K monitor instead?

1080P is a good resolution for monitors up to 24". Past that, you're going to want a 1440P screen. I would try to find a 1440P 144hz monitor of 27-32 inches if you want larger than a 24.

27" 1440p will give you the best pixel density and make your games look as good as they can. It's also a good size to fill your view.

^^I Agree. I don't care about being competitive that much to watch pixels. 27" 2K is a good way to go, it's plenty big for a desk, in fact I think I'd be uncomfortable with a screen bigger than that. On a side note, are you sure about buying a curved monitor? AFAIK most are VA, they can't compete with TN in response time and input lag.

@PfizersaurusRex: Yeah I'm not competitive player - just casual chill and kill kind of stuff and I saw that none of the curved monitors are IPS so that's sort of downgrade for me a bit.

LG makes curved reg and ultrawide IPS monitors, some even with 144hz. I have one, but the lower res variety, 2560x1080. 34GK950F is a good one, 1440p, 144hz, but a lil pricey :O

Have a 27" 144hz monitor didn't notice any quality loss from 24".

I personally think the pixel density is too low for 1080p monitors greater than 24". Same with 2K monitors greater than 27".

For gaming it won't really matter since it's just moving pictures, but for productivity I like the higher pixel density.

Personal preference is 27" 2K (WQHD).

I ended buying a cheap 27' curved monitor with 1080p, didn't want to damage my gaming performance going 2K (i5 4690 with GTX970).

It takes time to get used jumping from 24' to 27' so I don't know what the damage would be if I did the jump from 24' to 31'.

I might upgrade to 2K gaming if I'll upgrade my whole rig with modern GPU such as RTX3070 or 3060 and Intel 10600K.

Make sure to get a displayport cable if you want the high refresh rate enabled. Took me a long time to realize that HDMI does not support 144 hz.

At least I think that is what happened....

@mrbojangles25: Got HDMI side connected to my monitor (either that or VGA) and the other side to DP on my GPU

HDMI 2.0 can do 1080p up to 240Hz and 1440p up to 144Hz. but both devices(GPU & display) and the cable have to support the HDMI 2.0 iteration.
