I made a few minor changes. I wasn't going to post, but in honor of the new thread here it is...

Just a question about monitors.

Is the refresh rate (Hz) same as response time?

They are not the same.

The refresh rate is the number of times in a second that a display hardware draws the data. (examples: 60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz)

Response time is the time a system or functional unit takes to react to a given input.

Factor in "ghosting" as well. Observe using something like PRAD.

Oh ok.

It's just tough to see the refresh rate on a range of monitors on their official websites. Don't know why they hide that information.

If they don't state refresh rate then they'll be 60hz

This might be a lot to digest all at once but it's a good read. Very informative. Cheers mate.

But I didn't mention TV though, I read up on it about monitors and I lol'd. I saw a difference like 2 seconds in.

And I got mine on amazon.

ChubbyGuy40

When people claim 120hz is a marketing gimmick, 99% of the time they're talking about TVs and not monitors. Anyone talking about 120hz monitors are plebs who've never seen one in person.

Ah ok, I see what you mean now.

We need a mod here, and I for one nominate mitu since he has a 120 Hz 1440p display. He may not get rid of the spambots, and hell, he may be a horrible moderator...but goddammit he can play his PC games in 1440p @ 120 fps.

Funny as hell.:P

I don't know anything about that. What I will say, though, is to just report anything like that. If a few people report it, it jumps to the top of the moderation queue which means a moderator will get to it quickly.

Grills look good. Looks like you need to adjust the overscan setting on your TV, so the picture fills the whole display.

I believe the option is called overscan or something similar, you'll have to dig around in the TVs menu until you find it.

Set your resolution to the native resolution of the TV (which is hopefully 1920x1080), before changing the TV settings.

I had to do this for my previous HDTV, but I don't remember doing it for my current one.

Call me naive... Just wanted to showcase my new PC. I'm relatively new to the building side of PC's. Have been predominantly a console gamer but am now a convert one could say. Can't say I'm disappointed at the least. There were certain games that just made me nauseous on the PS3. EG. Skyrim, Fallout 3, Battlefield 3, Rage etc...Not to mention the vast visual improvement .Eye candy... Anyway, the idea was to get multiple GPU's somewhere in the near future. In the meantime, because I have never overclocked, I'd like to know if I could get some advice as to what this PC is capable of when it comes to overclocking ability.

Well, I can certainly say that that was quite the leap. If you plan on getting a multi-GPU setup in the future and plan on overclocking that CPU, then I would say that the 1200W is justified. However, even 1000 would have done the job nicely. :P I suppose it'll last you a while hahaha

Nice rig!

The 3930k should OC fantastically.

For the 680, will depend a lot on the model and factory OC.

1200w will do triple GPUs :)

I'm running one GTX 690 and my framerate is fine with everything turned up. I'm running 1200 watt power supply and 32 GB of ram at 2400 MHz with the i73960x. And I'm running the Vertex 4 with the Asus Rampage Extreme 4. So to be honest the video card is fine. Your computer is only as strong as it's weakest link?

To be honest 1200 watt is barely enough for 2 GPU's. You never want to utilize more than 80% of the power supply. To be safe 2 GPU's should run 1600 watt power supply and 3 GPU's I would run atleast 2000 watt's and you would see a difference in performance with the same hardware. You really don't want the power supply to run warm otherwise it's being pushed too much. One of the main things I hear are people talking about stuttering and crashing and that's because of the lack in power.

Blurred a few things, also I'm a student, so my setup isn't ideal :P

Also photos were taken with tablet in poor lighting conditions. Forgive me.

That's a nice looking room, I like your wooden furniture, too. Those speakers being on different levels would make me freak out, though.
