Name a PC game that every PC gamer MUST play it or he's not a PC gamer.

First,don't get this thread wrong with"best games you have played on PC".it'sabout games that someone must play it on PC. no matter game is good, madicore or bad.

Personally, I think every PC gamer must play half-life. not that I say this game is so great. I found it pretty overrated too. But this is the game that many people call it the best game on PC. and PC gamers should experience it and see if that's right or not.

Ehh i think that the thread was intended to point old classic pc games that defined pc gaming and not every pc gamer has played , (eg: new pc gamers like yourself)...and not to point that new ones that everyone has played.

However if am wrong about the thread purpose and you neyney23 then i must apologize, but i find it kinda weird that you pick such a new game....

You need to experience a game in many genres, for puzzle: Bejeweled, RPG: Morrowind, Hack & Slash: Diablo, FPS - Doom, Quake, and other genres, games that were highly recognized for that particular genre. Then you'll be more well-rounded.

It's funny that I have yet to see anyone mention a strategy game apart from Thebettafish, while it's one of the few genres almost completely exclusive to the pc and highly profitable. I grew up playing Age of Empires and wouldn't be a pc gamer if it weren't for strategy games.

well.. counter strike 1.X.. he who never made headshot with desert eagle on dust shall not be called thy pc gamer.. and also tomb raider 1 or 2, monkey island 3.. we all played these... and I guess warcraft3 even when it's really bad game and also diablo2 and for me personally total annihilation and maybe one the first need for speed games even when they are now crap, especially nfs 2 se

and i think Crysis and other new PC games belong on here, new PC games (well, at least the good ones) belong on here as much as any old ones. PC gaming isn't some exclusive club which only those who have delved into its deep past and played through all titles resembling fame or greatness can join. thats just silly, and builds upon the stereotype that pc gamers are condescending snobs.

Are we supposed to take this seriously?

Because it's kind of a silly thread. I could take a picture of the titles that are in one of my closets, and you'd see that the entire closet is filled with game boxes stacked from the ceiling to the floor (I live on a space station), and that there's not a single copy of Planescape Torment anywhere. Do I lose my gamer-card because of this? I've been playing computer games since December of 1985 when I stumbled into a software store and bought a copy of a text-adventure from Infocom called 'Wishbringer'. Since then I've bought so many PC games that I don't even want to think about it.

I didn't even buy my first console until the original Xbox was near the end of its cycle, and I only did that because my PC was dying, and I wasn't prepared to put down three thousand dollars for a new one. I bought the 360 chiefly to play Mass Effect on launch and to play FIFA online. I don't really like the consoles very much - it's just inferior hardware.

So which game would exclude me from being a PC gamer if I didn't own it?

The answer is, there is no such game.

I was actually going to write Civilization. But what if, like myself, you've basically been addicted to computer games for more than twenty years, and have bought hundreds of titles, and loved most of them, but that the strategy genre is your least favorite and so you happened not to buy Civilization?

If you've bought hundreds of PC titles I don't think we could say you're not a PC gamer simply because you haven't played Civilization?

In the early days I really disliked the FPS games because I thought the graphics were crudely done - these games also made me feel sick to my stomach after about fifteen minutes of play. For this reason, I never played Doom, and I never played Quake. The first real FPS that I played was Half-life, and I went in reluctantly, and only because the praise the game was getting was difficult to ignore (and yes of course I loved Half-life).

I was too busy playing Panzer General, and Civilization to care about Doom or whatever FPS everyone else was playing. I'm sure the same could be said vice versa.

I have no desire to play it. I've seen clips on Utube, and it's antiquated. Maybe back in the day Deus Ex would've been great, but technology has advanced, and so has game design. I'd much rather play Arkham Asylum, or Dragon Age, or Resident Evll 5.
