Why must the Holocaust be taught and remembered?

I've changed my mind: you are the most ignorant person I have ever met. Firstly, Hitler was not an Athiest. If he was, why the hell would you think Jews bothered him? Secondly, even if he was an Athiest, how does that enable him the right to kill over six million people (est. about eleven million)?! And thirdly, Hitler was not a person to "love". Even if you like him from a sadistic approach, he ended up comitting suicide, and that isn't a very good quality either, is it?

I find it pretty dumb.

Its amazing how we are taught this in school, we should just forget about this stuff because I can't figure out a valid reason about why we should remeber the deaths of millions of people and World War 2. Sure, Hitler killed the Jews only because they were Jews, but isn't that the reason why we should forget about this stuff and leave it as is.

I go to a public school and learn this stuff; it sucks. Does anybody agree with me or do you believe that this stuff should be remembered always?:x

I remember hearing about this guy who kept saying Hitler was insane in calss and the History teacher went mental at him. Clearly Hitler began to slip nearing the end of his life, but who can say that he was medically insane? Deluded definitely.
