Which gender is smarter?

I think our differences (in smartness) make the human race smart as a whole, but if I had to chose one I would chose male.

Males are less prone to let emotions guide their actions. ALso, it seems that the most successful females get that way by exhibiting traits traditionally associated with males. Pride, ambition, cutthroatedness, and directness/bluntness.

i agree, but you have to enter it expecting a great deal of bias and sillyness, so why not have fun with it?

after all, it is hard to get offended if you dont take it seriously

well i'd say equal cause guys can't make crem brulee, but they can make hydroponic propulsion systems...

Safe to say that you can take the answers given here with a grain of salt. :P

I don´t really see anyone here saying men are smarter, or women for that matter, in a serious tone (as in, providing scientifically related examples in order to substantiate their viewpoints)

this question makes as much sense as asking which gender is more human, men or women.

A gender is a condition assigning values to certain "checkboxes" regarding human individuals. Conditions have no intelligence of their own, so both genders are fully unintelligent and neither is smarter than the other.

There are plenty of studies comparing the results of IQ tests between the sexes. They're always either identical, or they differ by about 2 or 3 IQ points. Pretty damn negligible. Gender has no bearing on intelligence, and if someone thinks it does then they're either sexist, or frustrated that women won't talk to them.

looking at mankind in general Id say theyre both pretty dumb.

Females are the better side of the "human" race by a long shot.

This is a complicated question and I don't have the knowledge to go into the way gender roles have affected the way women have been percieved in academic and political history. i.e. men have had predominant roles in those areas which makes males look "smarter" because there have been more male politicians, inventors, academics etc because women weren't particularly allowed in those roles. In short, not that we should think of women as being somehow less, but they really haven't had a fair chance to flourish as much as males have, in terms of milestone achievments in history, although you can probably argue against this easily since there are numerous women who have held positions of power (queens) and have made substancial scientific and academic contributions.
