[QUOTE="Mithrandir50"]how have you done so far? I am 1-2. Luckily the way it is set up, in my section, I will be playing sucky players tomorrow so I should hopefully get more points. Hoping to get at least a consolation prize. Came so close to winning both of my losses today, but one fatal move just screwed me over both times.AG RECLAIMS THE LEAD HOLY FU*KING SHIT

[QUOTE="Laihendi"]If you vote for American Gods then you are ignorant.WolfattheDoor34he even trolls the people who like him Watch him, lai
I have no doubt that the people who were previously undecided decided to vote AG upon seeing Lai's posts... you could have made your argument better than calling those who voted for AG ignorant. This is not a contest on which book is better, remember that.
[QUOTE="jimkabrhel"][QUOTE="Laihendi"]This is absurd. People do not have time to read a 600+ page book in the last weeks of the semester. Of Mice and Men can be easily read over one weekend, and there is extensive literature that has been written about it to facilitate analysis.Laihendi
Bullsh*t. You originally suggest The Fountainhead which is 750 pages.
The Fountainhead is an exception. It is a compelling read and its length is not a hindrance. You're a complete hypocrite. Everything is lesser than those things that you feel are worthy. Sorry, bud, that's not how things work.
Either you are incapable of understanding the subtleties of human interaction and emotion, or you are a troll. I've had enough.

You like ayn rand. Therefore for every opinion you have on books, the opposite is true.[QUOTE="Laihendi"]This is absurd. bullet proof reasoning.
That is not reasoning at all. Reason is the faculty that identifies and integrates the material provided by man's senses. Ayn Rand's entire philosophy is based on reason.I would like to remind voters that American Gods is about 6 times longer than Of Mice and Men and is therefore a serious time commitment. Of Mice and Men has a film dramatization starring Gary Sinise, who is an excellent actor. It is available on Netflix streaming. You probably already have a copy of Of Mice and Men from high school, whereas you will have to spend money if you want a copy of American Gods. Please keep these things in mind.Laihendi
Or you could use that wonderful socialist construct called a public library to get it for free.
I will give it an hour or so before I close it. Discussion for whatever book we pick starts on Wednesday.
[QUOTE="Laihendi"][QUOTE="Mithrandir50"] I don't think anyone is taking this personally, and to echo Dave, the $10.34 it costs on Amazon is money well spent.WolfattheDoor34Of Mice and Men had a comfortable win in the last round. People are forgetting that it was actually the underdog that managed an inspiring win after lingering at a distant 3rd place early on. American Gods is by no means the underdog and people should not be supporting it for some kind of romantic narrative. I strongly urge people to vote for Of Mice and Men, which is an established classic. how do you people like this guy? he's awful about literally everything
I don't think anyone actually "likes" Lai. They just find his moronic antics entertaining.

looking forward to starting american gods. hopefully i can get it at my library. i got exams next week too, so i like that we're only discussing the first chapter. anyone know how long that is, for those who've read it?
The first chapter is only 31 pages in the mass market paperback version.[QUOTE="WolfattheDoor34"]yeah those are the two I was addressingMithrandir50Congrats. Close the door on your way out dude, NICE I'm pwnt
I can't believe that some of you guys are using the book club to fight some Internet wardave123321

This isn't a French presidential election. If all of the club is going to read the same book then it is a good idea to have a book that the majority of the club agrees on.[QUOTE="DroidPhysX"][QUOTE="Laihendi"] I recommend a run-off between the 2 books with the most votes if Of Mice and Men does not exceed 50% of the vote.Laihendi
