[QUOTE="Pirate700"][QUOTE="xTheExploited"] No, they are taking the stereotype of ghetto blacks and applying to all blacks. They are mocking a whole race through a stereotype. These are kids at a university, a pretty well known one as well. People are going to take notice of what these kids do. Society doesn't care about what happens in the ghettos. Also the fact that people of one race mock another is no justification for the opposite happening.II_Seraphim_II
How are they applying it to all blacks?Black History Month is dedicated to all black Americans. And they said, and I quote:
"February marks a very important month in American society. No, i'm not referring to Valentines day or Presidents day. I'm talking about Black History month. As a time to celebrate and in hopes of showing respect, the Regents community cordially invites you to its very first Compton Cookout."
A stereotypical party in commemoration of a holiday that applies to all black americans. seems to me they are referring to all black americans.
... So if anything they were not clear enough on what they were trying to do.. Chances are if you do something this eccentric or brash no matter how good teh attentions, someone-somewhere will be offended.. Deal with it.
