OTcars 2015 discussion (DaVillain,TophGirl,Branketra as Hosts)

Last year Dave, Korvus, John made awesome OTcars. Big Kudos to Dave for hosting consequtive awesome OTcars. Unfortunately Dave and Korvus dropping out for being busy irl. John Whereabouts unkown.This year we are going with change of Hosts. Davillain and Toph_Girl hosting OTcars 2015, Branketra designing 2015 OTcars awards images.

Lets keep all OTcars discussion on this thread.

Whoever ends up hosting it, for the love of everything holy, cut back the number of categories. The community isn't as big as it used to be; it's not very flattering when we don't have enough active users to fill the categories.

I need best game and movie of 2015 category tho :P

As the pool for these categories comprises hundreds of items, sure, why not.

Heh. Just let users post their respective choices without any poll, and filter out the name which got most mentioned. Its easy lol.

@GazaAli: @indzman: I agree on the categories needs to be less then what @dave123321 did last year but despite all of that, he did good nonetheless. Last year was descent but this year, was a drag, we lost a lot of OT members and I can see OTcars being lesser then it was last year, not much to do. Still though, I hope I win for best avatar/sigs.

And if no one really wants to be the host, I don't mind doing it but I'm just going to be you're last person at the last minute if no one steps up to the plate.

You'd make a awesome Host or a great help to OTCars. I'll include you on 2015 OTcars as a host or helping host, dw :)

I'm honestly incredibly flattered that my name was mentioned to host OTcars. It's the thing that really shouldn't make my day, but it totally made my day. So thank you @GazaAli

That being said I've never really been clear on the duties of this yearly topic. Does the host actually keep track of the votes? Do they come up with all the categories (they seem endless) and when is the voting officially over?

@Serraph105: you are in charge of tallying the votes but you can ask vounteers to help out with it. You create the catagories. Traditionally there are many mainstays and you just add or subtract from those. The timing is up to you as for when voting starts and end. Typically there are two rounds. Forst is all write in votes. 2nd is when you have a list of names from the writem ins

That's actually not a bad idea. We could also merge the two together: hold an OTcar heavily focused on media but without entirely eliminating members-related awards. We may also include something like what TIME does and other media outlets: event of the year, person of the year..etc

To those who're saying the forum isn't active, we made due with less in the past. In fact, the forum picked up much activity recently, we definitely don't need to worry about that if we adjust the event accordingly.

@Ant_17: OTcars happens like once a year here in OT. It's an awards for many things like, new users, best avatar/sig, OT hero's, (that award is for those who have a job like your a Police, Nurse, ect.) best debater, best poster, less poster and many more that the host could name. Last year I won for best sig but it was a tie between me and Parkertummo for best sig. That's what OTcars is all about, we vote who's the best and that's it :-)

@AND1SALTTAPE I'm just gonna vote you for new user since you're still new here to Gamespot.

I think this year was a worse year for OT than the previous one. So OTcars this year isn't looking to be a success.

As for OTcars I'm always interested in something that rewards people for being friendly....not so thrilled about the NOTcars but whatever floats your collective boat XD

I agree that last year's OTcars were a bit extensive which would have been fine if people actually voted for those categories so I'd advise seeing which categories worked and didn't work last year and adjust it accordingly.

I think I got one one year,

"Person we'd never mention in the OTcars... TheHighWind"
