i was talking with one of my friends that was soon to be a father and he was freaking out and started talking about stuff like ,talking his wife into getting an abortion or leaving and never coming back when the kid is born then i said that imo abortion is wrong and walking out should be a crime........ that's when we got into the argument, (it turns out he's pro choice) and he thinks it's their baby to do with what they please. so O.T. pro-life or pro-choice?
i understand why people would sometimes choice abortion, especially if in highschool or soemthing, but still im pro-life. Your friend should take responsiblity for the kid, leaving shouldnt even be an option.
From past experience, OT seems to be split on the issue. I am pro choice though I don't see why anybody would want to have an abortion, especiallywhen they can operate the baby out withoutanyone having to push an 8 pound piece of meat out of their body.
My mother aborted a child that was supposed to be my brother when she was divorcing my dad... it just kind of happend and then she got a divorce and she just couldn't handle it.. but I understand her situation so im kind of in the middle so I don't really care.
I can't stand it when the government plays god with this stuff, as if they know what is better for us than we do. Let the parents choose, leave me and the government out of it.
I'm fully pro-choice and, as hard as I can be on women at times, this is one of those subjects that I believe we wouldn't even be discussing if men could get pregnant.

If you're going to pose that extreme to pro-choice advocates, how about you consider the other direction: During the first week after conception, would you really call that blob of cells a "baby"?

I could care less if someone gets an abortion... I think it should be up to those involved, not us. But then why not just take abortion babies and use them for stem cell research... it was going to be killed anyways, might as well make it useful.
See the biggest thing that makes me not care is alot of the mothers getting abortions are pretty set on not having a baby. If we sit here and go "No, you don't have a choice and you must give birth" we are going to get alot more cases of people hurting themselves or going to extreme measures to not have one.

I feel it's wrong as well. I just feel that it shouldn't be legislated. Personally, I'd always tell any girl who got knocked up to go ahead and have the kid, but if she doesn't want to, I feel it's wrong to force someone to act AT ALL, and especially imprudent to do so on such a grey issue.

If the woman was raped then of course abortion is an option, but if she was careless and got knocked up for lack of proper precautions, why should the fetus be terminated because the woman (and man) are irresponsible? Although there are arguments towards how it'd mess up their life... but whatever. There are exceptions everywhere, it's just when to draw the line that's the problem.

You are simplifying an essentially very complex issue. What is life? I mean, really, think about it, don't just say it's one think for the purposes of argument, I'm not going to. I don't know what it is, but that's the heart of this issue and all I know is that it's COMPLICATED AS HELL.
Problem is,if abortion were made illegal andthe lawspecified that rape cases be exceptions, then the amount of "rape" cases will skyrocket so that the people crying rapecanmay an abortion.

That seems flawed to me. Once you establish the precedent for fetus rights (or however you phrase it) in cases where the mother was irreponsible, how can you deny the same protections to a fetus that came about as a result of a rape? In both cases, the fetus is "blameless" and stands to face termination as a result of the actions of someone else.

I'm not saying you don't get any, but a bunch of prudes mad that everyone else is having fun say 'oh yeah, you're shoot yourself in the foot, you know, you shouldn't do it at all' and so condoms aren't even talked about and so STDs spread like wildfire. People have been having sex for a very long time, I don't know if you know this. There are very few societies that just have total abstinence, and then, that's usually because of some kind of sexual perversion, but the bottom line is that telling kids to just not have sex is proven to not work.
The only one who should have a say on what to do with it is the woman carrying it. EDIT: If she wants to have the kid and he wants to leave, let him. He'll just have to pay child support. There's no reason why he should have to stay in the relationship if he doesn't love her.

But do you feel so strongly about that that you want it legislated, enforced by men with pepper-spray and firearms? I may think that lying is usually wrong, or that breaking a person's heart is wrong, but would I ever want a law saying that people couldn't do either? No, of course not.
