http://www.catholicsforchoice.org/news/pr/2012/documents/CFC-BRS_2012_Election_Study.pdf

Forty-six percent of the 1,000 Catholic likely voters surveyed said they would vote for Obama next month, with 41 percent opting for Gov. Romney and 12 percent remaining undecided. The poll had a margin of error of 3.1 percent.

79% of Calthoics think that Jobs should be the number one priority for the President, as opposed to 28% thinking that aborition should be the number one priority.

60% of Cathlolics support legal abortion.

The subsets of Catholics that support Obama more than Romney: women, younger Catholics, Latinos, lower income, single.

Still can't get over the fact that abortion is still an "issue" over there.

Also, this seemed obvious. I highly doubt all Catholics are insane like Rick Santorum and his followers.

I think the poll asked for the top three priorities, and then did the statistics.

Lay Catholics have generally always been more liberal than the Catholic Church proper, and more liberal than other religious groups in general.

Pretty sure a lot of protestant evangelicals don't consider Catholics proper Christians because they think they deify Mary and to some extent the Saints and get too wrapped up in icons or something. It's fundamentalist dickwaving and not really all that interesting.

I think he was talking about how Catholicism is a branch of Christianity. You can be Christian and not Catholic, but you can't be Catholic and not Christian.

Sure. Catholicism believes in salvation via works and faith, rather than just faith, as taught in the Bible (Ephesians 2:8-9). Here's some evidence for what I'm saying. It includes direct references to and quotes from the Catholic Catechism.

I also recommend this - CARM's entire section on Roman Catholicism.

Catholicism is a cult. It is not Christianity.

Not exactly sure yet TBH.....I'm researching right now. Has to be someone better than Romney and Obama. Hopefully we get another viable party soon. The two we have are dreadful.

No but we might get another party to replace one of the two we currently have. That has happened in the past. Though I do believe in the abolishment of the electoral college.

what is that an oxymoron? catholic and legal abortion in the same sentence. nothing wrong with being a law abiding catholic american citizen. everything wrong with abortion(when the mother isn't facing life or death). i'm voting for the half black guy i don't understand the connection between all of this

Doesn't really seem likely. One of these parties would have to go through a major and sustained implosion and then another party would have to suddenly appear with the infrastructure and fundraising network to compete with the remaining party, and even then the new party's platform is going to be almost identical to the old party's since they'll want to reach as large a base as possible and probably scrape together the old party's partisans who now have no one to vote for.

That's true. I just think it's more feasible to change the existing parties, which is certainly possible given a sufficient change in public sentiment regarding any given issue.

They don't change much though.....and are closer together really other than the pet bills the other party wants to pass. And I think the only reason they really don't support the bills is because it's the other party. Which is like two year old children fighting over toys.
