I watched Three for the Road on tv the other day. Never saw it before. I was only half-following the movie but enjoyed it.
I think more than anything I just kept paying attention to how small and skinny Kerri Green was, and I kept being amazed by how much Alan Ruck aged in the next decade.
@uninspiredcup: I never watched the third because of how bad the 2nd one was, maybe I'll give it a shot. Absolutely love the first movie.
There's a part where a pair are killed by a ninja while having sex in a bath-tub, and the police can't detach them, so they get wheeled off on a stretcher still attached until they can get a clamp.
Another part where a dude elaborately dresses up a ninja, just to punch a guy in the kneck in the toilet, then gets changed back into his normal clothes to leave.
The Great Escape. Entertaining. Not great, but good. Richard Attenborough looked so different in his youth, shaven. I've always just known him as Dr. Hammond in Jurassic Park.
If you haven't seen it, check out the documentary Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films. It's an interesting look at the rise and fall of the studio from the actors & filmmakers behind their movies.
Eddie The Eagle - This has been repeated a good 4/5 on Filmfour, but no qualms rewatching, great feel good (massive liberties taken) movie. Basically Rocky with skis.
Mission Impossible: Fallout - This feels more like Bond movie than the other ones. Mega-destroy the world plot, super-villains that (basically are) Spectre, a secret base, exotic locations with beautiful woman. If you removed the team aspect (which Spectre attempts to do badly) and got a different actor, it basically would be one.
That's not an insult, it's better than pretty much every Craig movie barring Skyfall imo and I wasn't too keen on the prior ones barring these last two movies.
One complaint, far too much shit going on with sub-plots. There's like 3 going on at once in the final section. Although alot of the action sequences are practical and pretty amazing, the CGI stuff stands out and has that shitty organic lighting look.
I find it a pretty entertaining sequel. I think part of the reason a lot of people dislike it is because it's not what they expected, but I like all the heavy-handed philosophy and the twists, like Neo's real purpose.
Zion's cylindrical layout is kind of lame and, ironically, machine looking. They should have just ripped off the manga Blame! when they designed the city.
I love the chase sequence. Great combination of digital effects and real stunts. I like CG, but mainly when it enhances what's already there. I was surprised when I watched the thirty minute making of afterwards to learn that they actually built a 1.5 mile freeway. They would never bother doing something like that for the modern superhero movies.

Looks really good in 4K HDR. Much of the chase is apparently in 2K, though.
Definitely more bad than good. But there was some good imagery. I feel like the soundtrack could've incorporated more of the hypnotic sounds that came from the hypnosis machine.
It was alright though too much focus on the humans. I just didn't care for them in this film. The movie was trying too hard to make me feel about conflict with the main characters. It was just a mess of a story. The monster battles were great though. Better than Godzilla 2014.
Halloween(2018)
I liked it as it went straight to the action with Michael Myers. The deaths were really cool in this movie. It was cool seeing an older Laurie and Michael Myers going at it.
These Final Hours. It was okay.I never felt that the mc was going thru the last moments before Earth was destroyed.Up until the end. They did a terrible job in that regard. They could have showed how the Earth was slowly dying all over different parts of the world. It would have given a lot more meaning to the MC struggle and his overall growth as a person when he decided to reunite the little chick with her Father.Instead of staying in the free **** for all party with his gf.I wish they took inspiration from the trailer of this old game to see how it's done:
Tomb Raider (2018) Way better then the earlier movies, not perfect but a step in the right direction for video game movies. Not sure why it had so much negativity before it came out? Laras new skinnier look? At any rate decent movie, 6/10
Toy Story 4 spends more time with the new characters than the ones that have already been established over the first three films. That's not to say the older characters don't have their moments to shine, but expect smaller roles from characters like Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. The movie overall is about Woody and Bo Peep, and it suffices they spend most of their screen time in locations without the other toys.
The new characters are overall a load of fun. Forky, the new character literally made out of trash, is one of the strangest things the Toy Story universe has introduced yet, and yet this character possesses deeper existential themes.
There was a ton of skepticism over the announcement of Toy Story 4 when everyone thought the series ended perfectly after Toy Story 3, and many feared a fourth can tarnish a perfect reputation. Luckily, that is not the case with this film, as many will say it's just as good as the previous outings. After looking at the contents of this movie, Toy Story 4 feels anything but a cash-grab, but a true interest to further the story and provide an epilogue to the original trilogy. The movie took a lot more risks for it to feel like a blatant cash-grab.
Overall Toy Story 4 feels like a genuine epilogue to the first three movies. It provides the aftermath of the Andy era of Toy Story films and how the toys have coped or moved on from it. It especially explores how Woody has been since then, and it brings closure to his ark in a bittersweet way. It's weird to say the Toy Story franchise might truly end on a bittersweet note, yet that appears to be the case. I understand perfectly why they went this way and it makes more sense the more I think of it.
Toy Story 4 ends in such a way of closure, I can't imagine there being anymore Toy Story films. The film pulls itself into a corner it can't really back itself out of, and I hope that truly means this is it for the franchise. I'm all for Pixar making Toy Story short films, but I think it's best to call it an end for their cinematic career. They managed to make four perfect films, and let's keep it that way.
I saw it a long time ago and didn't remember much, so it was almost like seeing it again for the first time. I would say it's second best, after Silence of Lambs, of the Hannibal series.
Rambo is Stallones best character. Rambo 3 is underrated.
I love the ending where there's an entire army and it's just him and the Colonel in a ditch, and the Russians could easily just shoot from a distance with one of their tanks, helicopters, rocket launchers or shells, but decide to ram them head on.
The 2 foot dry ditch apparently made from that shit Wolverine uses, while the Russians stand out in the open with Stormtrooper aim.
