Don't be afraid to be specific. It's a Republican on the congressional science committee. Surprise, surprise.

The first part doesn't surprise me, the second part scares the crap out of me.

People like this shouldn't be involved with ANYTHING concerning scientific policy in the US. Its a fvcking embarrassment to our country that such a low life moron can actually have a post like this.[QUOTE="jimkabrhel"][QUOTE="Blue-Sky"]

A person like that should have nothing to do with science.

I have a PhD in Chemistry. Just because I have an advanced degree doesn't give me the right to make proclamations like this, especially those that have no basis in reality. It's one thing to suggest that some higher being has a hand in the design of the universe, it's another to suggest that science is the work of the Devil.

I'm annoyed when people completely and entirely belittle and discredit a person based off of something like this. Obviously the guy is out of touch with biology and genetics, that does not mean he's out of touch with everything else.

Err, you have the right to make any proclamation credentials aside. Also, he is not a low-life moron for not believing in evolution. A low life moron is a drug dealer, an abusive father or things similar.

He could be a great father, pillar of his community and an insane poker player. I don't care. I do care that someone disconnected with the fundamentals of science in a position to create scientific based policy.

You act as if evolutionary biology is the entirety of science and that any random evolution believing forum goer is more qualified than him regardless about what they know about the rest of the world.

I'm with you man. The guy doesn't believe in evolution and is immediately considered a low life moron, an imbecile and a complete idiot. Perhaps he doesn't understand/want to believe in evolution, but it doesn't mean he doesn't excel in other fields of science or other academic branches, or even common sense, which I'm sure some people in this thread lack.

Find it funny how people are calling someone with an MD stupid. He's accomplished more than any of you losers (with the exception of a select few who know who they are). And I find it quite revealing that masters of human biology (doctors) reject this theory..not surprised. That's all I'm going to say.
I'm annoyed when people completely and entirely belittle and discredit a person based off of something like this. Obviously the guy is out of touch with biology and genetics, that does not mean he's out of touch with everything else.Storm_MarineI'm disgusted that you are trying to defend him. He calls the work of thousands (if not tens of thousands) of dedicated, intelligent individuals who have given their entire lives to the betterment of humanity through the study of evolution, and it's off-shoots genetics, organic chemistry and other fields related to medicine, what is essentially "useless crap" and takes the insult further, by calling it product of pure evil. No scientist, no human being, who values knowledge and the future of humanity, would ever consider, let alone come up with repugnant nonsense such as this. And to defend him? I have absolutely no words for you. If you are merely making argument for argument's sake, then fine... but if you truly wish to defend such an individual as this, I wish to disassociate myself from you immediately, as you are an enemy of human kind, and our very survival.

no one in this thread has said he's stupid, or an idiot. His accomplishments are not being questioned, nor does a person's lack of accomplishments render an opinion null. Is their a quantifiable number of doctors that have rejected this theory, and have they done so out of some bias.
but what is being criticized is that ridiculous statement.

don't make me post that picture.kingkong0124Oh no, not a picture I willfully uploaded and actually like compared to the other pictures I have of myself! That would be horrible! Please, for the love of Joe Pesci, don't! Don't see what it would accomplish as I am in no way embarrassed by the image. Or do you fancy me as something more than a friend? You seem to obsess over this picture of mine. Should I send you more titillating images so that you can gain physical pleasure from them?
You kids missed the first part of the topic title where it said "Congressman."
Politicians will be politicians. They appeal to a demographic that will get them elected by using whatever means necessary so they can make $150k+ a year not counting benefits and information. I find it more sad that people will elect someone like him than him supposedly 'believing' what he's saying.

people have called him horrible names. You can look up stats on doctors that reject this theory, there's plenty of them out there. While they may have rejected the theory due to bias, some may have promoted the theory due to their own biases.

Sorry, I like to laugh at it. And I don't obsess over your picture, I simply came across it. After your many insults towards myself and others, I had to look for something. Didn't have to look hard.
It isn't just evolutionary biology. He mentions the Bing Bang theory also. As I said, he 's more that welcome to espouse his own mixture of science and religion. However, he should, as a member of an important Congressional committee relating to science, should seek to disconnect from wild religious theories and stick closer to peer-reviewed scientific literature. Of the type this man needed to read for his degrees.jimkabrhel
Who said you have to accept those theories to be part of that committee? In this case, a variety of viewpoints, would, in my opinion, be the best option.

That suggests to me, either you have an unhealthy obsession with me, or you are an idiot trying to rile me up with something that does nothing of the sort. Go ahead, post it. I have no shame in that five year-old image of myself. One of the few ever taken I am not self-conscious of.
