I've had Netflix since 2010 and the quality in the last couple of years has been awful when they first came out with original content it wasn't bad. I say they peaked in 2016 with the first season of Stranger Things second season of Daredevil and Black Mirror season 3 ect.. But all the shows now are god awful the quality control is gone in my opinion and it is just flooded with garbage it's not worth the subscription anymore at least for me.

TBH I don't use it all that much these days. Not so much bc it is bad, there's just other services that have more stuff (Prime and Hulu, to name two).

Yeah, I have Prime too it's ok I use Amazon alot so that's why I mostly keep prime. I watch Youtube the most out of any streaming service mostly for gaming and political stuff to watch.

Prefer Disney+, more family oriented content but the original content is better.

This is speaking strictly of the UK Netflix, which is comparatively a baron land to the US, and I shouldn't be forced to use a VPN in my opinion to access "content".

I still use Netflix and I been rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender & Legend of Korra so yeah, I been using it a lot, and not to mention, I watch the new Transformers on it. Netflix is always a hit or a miss but its got its fair share of stuff to watch. At least Netflix brought down Blockbusters🤭

If you haven't, you should check out Talespin on Disney+ its a really cool show I enjoy watching as a kid.

This was the year that was really supposed to start hurting their content with new subscription services (like Disney+) coming online.

I think Friends and The Office leave next year as well, which is going to hurt a lot more than some people think - the percentage of Netflix's streaming traffic those two shows make up is bonkers considering how old they are.

The content providers have been working towards making Netflix a "flea-market dumping ground" of their least desirable, least profitable content for years, and it's finally starting to pay off for them.

We just have one subscription that everyone in the family uses. Everyone uses it often except for me. Generally use it to watch Stranger Things & Big Mouth when new seasons come out.

Using it until my brother decides to kick me, but I've only watched Klaus this whole year (at least foreign countries are still making traditionally animated movies (though it's kind of a hybrid)) and barely anything the last few years, because the quality is so bad. It's upsetting how good Disney Plus's streams look and how terrible Netflix's look.

I have been RENTING from Netflix for a few years now, because they have a far, FAR bigger selection and their streaming quality pales in comparison to the discs. I wish the distribution center that was near me hadn't been shut down, wherever it was. I know there had to be one pretty close, because I used to be able to rent six discs a week instead of just three.

@davillain-: Yea, use to watch that and Gargoyles.

Mainly watching the animated Starwars stuff. Never read the Thrawn stuff but really diggin' him as a villain, way better than Snoke or rehashed Palpatine.

I use it intermittently for the occasional series or movie. Sharing my account with other family members means I don't even have to pay the full subscription price myself so it doesn't feel that much of a waste even on months I don't consume any content.

These days I'm using Netflix almost exclusively for kdramas. I'm enjoying them more than I thought I would.

Still my preferred streaming service, like it better than Hulu or Prime or Disney. Of the new services, HBO Max might be my favorite with the content they are licensing.

I use a lot on my XB1X. Things I don't like they have done last couple years, not giving in-app control of whether to use Dolby Vision or HDR10. And the app use to only Switch to HDR mode only when watching content with HDR, now the app stays in that mode regardless, which makes it difficult to optimize image quality.

Lately I have been on it more than I have in years. I've spent a solid amount of years not in it at all. I'm mostly watching movies so I can't really speak on television since I don't really bother on that end. I am fairly impressed they managed to get some big-name directors to make movies for the service, like Scorsese.

I feel like there classics output is a lot worse than they used to be. I really like to watch older films as well but I feel like they're pretty gimped in that department.

Question: what in your opinion is the best streaming service that offers a wide array of older and classic cinema, rare and niche finds as well?

Maybe Prime? it's hard to say there is so many streaming services out there.

Thanks. In reality I suppose any one genre or period of cinema will be spread across all these different platforms, which is painfully annoying.

I can always go on any one platform and want to watch a particular film and it's on a different platform.

I wish there was just one definitive streaming service that has virtually every movie available in one search bar. That would be the dream.

But no. All these companies gotta horde their content to entice people to pay their services over another.

Then I recommend buying the movies that are unavailable on your preferred streaming services. Or just pirate everything. I'm sorry, but not watching something you're interested in because it's not on your service of choice, letting how the companies each take a piece of the pie for themselves affect you so much, is lame. Streaming, such progress...

Netflix is still pretty great for me. I'm looking forward to some upcoming shows, and there's an absolute wealth of content already on there that I haven't watched, but check out from time to time. I don't see myself letting go of it any time soon.

@ezekiel43: Nevermind to my ranting, say hello to my giant Blu-Ray collection. I collect movies, but thank you for your suggestion. I am also never held back by rare or hard to find movies. If there's a will, then there's a way. I'll find a movie one way or another even if it comes down to finding a stream online.

My ranting just boils down to my overall apathy towards these paid streaming services because offerings will always be fragmented between all these services, so just because I want to watch a movie does not mean it will be on the service I have but maybe another one.

My ranting is overall pointless and really marks the lack of value I see in them; however if in a perfect dream world there was indeed a definitive streaming service that has every piece of film conceivable just a search bar away, of course I'd go for that subscription.

Thank you for stating a bit of the obvious and making a wrong judgment, but I'm aware I'm stating a kind of wishful thinking that's not actually plausible.

I also heard that as well. Netflix "Cuties" is causing lots of controversy but that film is really for French people who are okay with this. That said, I haven't read much of Cuties but the film looks boring to me and I'm more of an action-adventure type of thing.

Edit: surprising enough, GS is avoiding this and didn't bother reviewing it on their Entertainment hub for a good reason.

I still use Netflix alot personally. Hulu is a 2nd for shows, and I have Prime and Disney+ too. I don't use Prime alot but I still use the free shipping and Amazon music too so I'm not getting rid of it. I NEVER use Disney+ but I don't get rid of it because I have it free for a year. Of all of the services I use Disney+ is the weakest. If you're like me and hate superhero movies then the service only has old cartoons and Star Wars to offer.

I have Netflix but rarely watch it, very rare I watch tv or movies anymore. Movies hit a high in the 90's and have been spiraling down since and tv was amazing in the 80's and same thing happened, slowly gotten boring as the years went by.

I bought a new tv a couple of weeks ago, "82" Samsung, but if I was to watch it, only 24hr news cast I have interest in. My Samsung in mainly for gaming only when the XSX comes out.

I had Neflix around 2013 and used it mainly for Twilight Zone, The Munsters, etc. Cancelled it when the price went up and my mom recently got it like last year. I really hate how much garbage is on Netflix that is original shows and movies. I tried browsing through Netflix and alot of the shows I liked are on other streaming services. I hardly watch TV or movies now so Netflix would be a pass for me.
