It seems that everyone who has a gameboy has pokemon.  Its just such a good game.  When it first came out (TV show/cards) a lot of ppl were like POKEMON IS FOR LITTLE KIDS!  but now i noe more ppl who are over 13 that have pokemon and it seems that the most interest comes from the ppl who were like 8 when red and blue came out.  Those games are so timeless and are some of the few that almost EVERYONE plays.

EDIT: almost everyone my age (14-15) that i noe with a DS already has a reservation on it

i agree with you. im 16 and im getting it might buy a ds lite to play it on too, so i don't have to take my litter brother's (12) ds who kinda laughed at me when i said im getting it.  there is no age and these games r just great. it all started like whoever said when we were like 7-8 when blue and red came out and its just like it stays with us when the new ones come out. and this wi-fi battling/trading is going to make these new ones sweet

It's really quite funny, actually. The people who are critical of pokémon are those haven't tried it/haven't played it in years.

IT's easy to say pokémon looks childish, but that's the thing. It LOOKS childish, but when you get into EVs and such, that's when you start thinking, no?

And let us not forget about planning strategies. Going through certain areas of the game, you need certain Pokemon to go through these ares. This works doubly so, when going against gym leaders and other ppl you may duel while on your journey.

Heck, I'm 22 and, along with a few friends 16-25, I'm getting both versions coming up, too.. of course, one copy is for my 12 year old cousin, lol.

But yeah, I thought it was kiddy before.. especially being in high school, but the RPG fan in me just finds them to be awesome games.

ha, Exactly.. you may grow old, but you're never forced to grow up. :P

And, yeah. I'll take awesome looking sprites over decent looking 3D ANY day of the week. D/P looks great, though.. especially all the little doodads and features returning from GSC; what I thought to be the best group of games.

I think this is becoming more familiar with people, I'm 25 and have 2 daughters and I play pokemon and I have it reserved. I'm a huge RPG fan so naturally I took to pokemon the first time I played it. Fact is this, it is a very addicting RPG. If people call me immature for liking this game so be it, atleast I'm playing quality games. I look forward to playing this, and now that my daughter likes pokemon we have something to talk about at the dinner table.

When everyone first went crazy over Pokemon (the anime and the card games) I thought it was pretty lame. A lot of my friends are pretty mean and rough but they loved the Pokemon games so I figured it had to be decent. I never actually got into the games, up until now at the age of 18. I just bought Pokemon Ranger, which isn't a 'traditional' Pokemon game from what I've seen but it's still fairly sweet. I might have to get all of the older games now...

Great news for everyone here then. I'm 48 nad my love for video games hasn't diminished at all. RPGs in particular. And I'm still looking forward to the new Pokemon game.

I'm 18 and I play Pokemon, sure I won't be getting Diamond and Pearl, but Pokemon has no age limit!

Try explaining IVs and EVs to a little kid. Try explaning complex strategy and counter-strategies, it's a very underated game of the mind, simmilar to a more complex version of chess. I play Pokemon Crystal and Pokemon Fire Red, not to mention Stadium 2 and the TCG. I am not obssessed, I do it merely for my entertainment and when I can play them, but I am sick and tired of people saying that Pokemon is for kids, alongside many other Nintendo franchises, Nintendo merely made a otherwise super complex math based game into something easy and accessible. :3

Indeed. In my books, Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow are all timeless classics. I will remember them as truely fantastic games that shone above almost all that stood before it.

I play Pokemon. I can also drink legally.

People have pre-conceived notions of what being an adult is. Just do what you want and be yourself. If you listen only to what other people tell you, you miss out on some of the most important lessons and experiences in life.

Do what makes you happy so long as you're not hurting anyone. Screw everyone who disagrees with you.

People often forget that you cna make something seem and appear as you please, negative and positive. Regarding this thread, people try and make it seem childish often to 1.) cover up the fact they like it, and try and be "cool" (lame) or 2.) doesn't meet their taste in gaming, so they bash it (like many people you play video games today, also lame). I'm not saying thoes are the main reasons, but think of the underlying message they hold regarding most things today.

With that said, I really couldn't care what people think of the games I buy. I reserved Pokemon Diamond in front of people at my local EB, but I can't bother wasting my time on what they'll think. Chances are, they're in there buying something they might be scared of others knowing as well. I also don't think Pokemon ever had a age limit, it simply connects to what I mentioned earlier about the empty hate/avoidance ideas. If it was really meant for children, it would have an EC rating.

Pokemon is probably one of the best RPGs on a handheld ever. Pokemon is undeniably a great RPG, kiddy or not. I'm going to be 18 in July and I'll be getting Pokemon Platinum still.

I made a thread related to this topic and most people got erections so I'll keep it simple. I don't think it has an age limit but it would appeal more to a younger audience.

Are you kidding? Pokemon may not have an age limit but it is clearly a childish game. That doesn't mean it sucks though.

Also, no offense, but saying that the Pokemon series lost it's age limit (like it ever had one) because someone is 13 years-old is a pretty poor example for the other "mature" members escpecially when the kid was 13 years-old. so they may not take you seriously.

I'm 20 and still play pokemon on a regular basis (started when I was 10). Most of my friends who are my age also play the game and not to mention my friend's 25 year old, married with four children, boss also plays more than any of us. So yeah, the whole concept of the pokemon age limit is entirely misconstrued.

I enjoy the games (At 14) but hate the show and cards. The games are really great, I dont care who says otherwise.
