Here's one reference, but the game is STUFFED full of Movie, Biblical, Renaissance Art... you name it... TONS of Homages to dozens of sources! The game is a Brawler of the classic Capcom Style, not an Action game like Muramasa!

Wish this was cross buy. I guess it would be funner on PS3 being it has 4 player CoOp.

No I will not buy Dragon's Crown. Not on first day, not on any day. A game has to be just like Uncharted, it has to be flawless technically, great and addictive gameplay, great music score, great story and characters, great graphics. I've played enough Vanillaware games to know that pretty artwork alone can't make a great game.

You're not getting the game because it is not Uncharted? That's an odd standard to apply to a niche game like Dragon's Crown but I suppose to each their own.

You're not getting the game because it is not Uncharted? That's an odd standard to apply to a niche game like Dragon's Crown but I suppose to each their own. 

I mentioned Uncharted as an example of an all rounded game. Mind you I'm completely aware they're totally different genres but it doesn't hurt to use it as an example of how a game should be. I use the same crietria when judging all games. 

Also, there's no "niche" games. There are big studio games and indie/ five people games. Why should we excuse games made by big studios, and they have all the means to make great games, for not excelling in every aspect?

This reminds me of an episode of a Destructoid show where the guy says some so called niche titles and indie titles use the indie/niche as an excuse for their inadequacies. If I had the link, I would've posted it here.

Taking a small budget game and holding it to the likes of Uncharted which had more of a Hollywood budget just doesn't seem like an accurate comparison. Speaking of Hollywood, it's no different than me expecting a movie like Lost In Translation to be like The Avengers. Both good movies in my opinion but one is only going to capture a select audience while the other has more of a massive appeal hence the label "niche".

I don't agree with your example so I ridicule your opinion. Nice. Can you help me, and you're someone who have played more games than I did and have better taste in games, think of a better example?

Are you seriously asking me to help you come up with a better analogy? If so, I suppose I could. I like trying to come up with analogies that are able to encapsulate obscure thought. It's a fun challenge.

Both games have enough money to make a great video game. One put all the money and resources they have to good use the other are relying on breatsts and anime fanbase. You know how many times they made us kill spider/dragon/wizard bosses in Odin Sphere? You call that niche game? I'm not aware you can pull the niche card whenever someone mentions serious flaws in games. As serious as repeating entire levels/boss fights.

I do understand that it's niche which to me is some sort of elitism, but it's still bad.

Niche simply means you are dealing with a game that appeals to a limited, narrow demographic which in turn usually means a smaller budget because the developer and publisher are cognizant of the reality that the game will have limited appeal when considering the larger, broader consumer base.

I would most certainly consider this game niche, along with many of the games Atlus publishes.

As far as flaws, most of the Atlus games do have shortcomings but it seems to me you simply don't like the gameplay which is just fine. There are some Atlus games I don't like either. What I don't understand is the tone you have in your posts and why you are so defensive. You seem to be taking my observations very personally which are not directed towards you on a personal level but towards your reasoning.

Niche is not an elitist word. It's been used for as long as I remember to describe a very specific targeted interest much like the phrase "cult following" is used for cinema.
