japanese game PAL gamecube+ memory card, small confusion

ok so i thought i had to format the memory card to play japanese game(well save) on my card? i have PAL NTSC/U and NTSC/J saves all on the same memory card now, is this even possible?

most people on here never owned a gamecube

I used Freeloader to play US and Japanese games on my PAL Gamecube, it said on the Freeloader manual that you have to use separate memory cards for each region...., don't remember why though lol.

PAL Gamecube? I thought GCs were just called Gamecubes and not PAL Gamecubes.

He means a Gamecube from the PAL regions (Europe, UK, Australia and probably some other places).
