Official Off-Topic Thread

As for new posters, we have 9 new members since the election. I've been essentially cold calling people who seem like promising candidates for membership: people that have posted big collections or good collection pictures, or seem like they know what they're talking about in forums. Also, I've put out a few threads on the Union recruitment board and some on the General Games Discussion board that would lead interested parties here. It's been working, since our membership roster has expanded by more than 10% since 8-bit was deposed. I think the free game giveaway was responsible for some of that; I advertised it in my recruitment threads. I will continue to search out folks that seem like they would enjoy coming here and would likely contribute. Also, I've got a text hotlink to the front page in my sig, but I might replace it with the slimline image that keiblerfan made.gmsnpr

Yeah, it turns out that they're people with interests just like us.  It was pretty cool at the time, but since Greg-M and Jeff don't do too much around here, my exhilaration has dimmed.  I invited Justin Calvert a couple of days ago, but he has yet to respond, though he has read the message.  I think I might invite Carrie Gouskos, she mentions having something like 45 systems in her profile, but not many games.  Even though she dogged out the SMS, I can forgive.  The Union has room for many voices.

One play straight through.  One night to beat a game.  I'm kind of dissapointed in length.  If I would have paid $60 for it I doubt I'd be too happy.  But it is still a great game.  I'll buy it when the price drops.

I just found out today that my UI check was late because I'm not geiing any since I "used curse words twords my former DM in front of customers then walked out saying I quit" apperently that is considered "mutual seperation" and it's my word against his dispite that I loved my job and quitting was the farthest thing from my mind the lady on the phone called me a liar and hurt my feelings... I hate when I'm not believed... especially since I'm the one being truthful.

I don't know what to say that'll do much good.  I am sorry that your UI check didn't arrive; if that's the cause of the eviction, then you've got even more reason to dislike your former DM.  I think it's a little crazy that you'd be asked to toss your games in the trash, though.  I'm renting a climate controlled storage unit for my comics and most of my older games that is 10' x 5' and has a ceiling that is at least 9' tall for $83 a month.  Most of the storage places that I've dealt with have month-to-month contracts, so you could secure at least some of your stuff for a while.  450 cubic feet doesn't sound like much at first, but my unit is only about half full.  You'd be surprised how much you can cram into a unit like that if it's packed well.  Good luck, man.

but seriously you can get a pretty decent rate at one of those you store it places.

actually, the next Kingdom Heards should have the disney series' characters like from Darkwing duck, duck tales, chip and dale's rescue rangers and dave the barbarion and if they can do tron why not mary popins, hocus pocus or the parent trap. while on that subject why not do the crappy strait to VHS/DVD sequal movies?

I think they should add characters from the live action stuff like The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes and Newsies, too.  I don't know how the gameplay would translate there, though.

I am a horror movie fan. Has anybody here seen a series of DVDs out now called, Masters of Horror? There are 13 volumes, all 1-hour films from directors like Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, Dagon), Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and Don Coscarelli (Phantasm). I picked up the Stuart Gordon one last night. It's an adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft's Dreams in the Witch House, and I liked it. It's all about a grad student who starts writing his dissertation and ends up in an asylum. I can relate. :) Anyway, if you like horror, Lovecraft, or Stuart Gordon, it's not a bad flick. I've seen a couple of the others for sale, but this is the only MOH movie that I've seen so far. gmsnpr
