You know, every week I Google something (usually for work) and get no answers.  So far, I've got a fair bit accumulated.  When you stop and think about it the unharnessed knowledge that is not yet published is pretty amazing.  I know for sure, that you, usagi704, know a lot of stuff that is not on the web.

For those of you with a 360, a Live account and a copy of Gears of War, how about we set a time to get together and play?

If not Gears, then anything else people want to suggest.  I see enough of you online when on my 360, so I know we have enough to form at least one team.

I try to watch britcom, but it's drawing a blank.  Unless you're thinking Black Adder 1, Spanish Enfanta episode, where Edmund Blackadder dresses up fancy-like as a means of trying to imply that he's not interested in her, let alone women in general.  Heh, that episode as wrong on so many levels, almost as wrong as Black Adder 2 episode 1 ("Bells").

Anyway, I've recently found some great deals on DVD's and a few cd's I was looking for as well.

I found Akira, new, for $8.99 + tx and Léon: The Professional (the uncut version) for $7.99. 

As for CD's, I got a couple Helloween re-releases and Keeper of the Seven Keys: Legacy (parts 1 and 2), Annihilator's latest release, Schizo Deluxe, Rebel Meets Rebel and Lamb of God: Sacrament, all in the last few weeks. Oh, and i finally got ahold of Dragonlord.  Who I confused with Dragonforce.  Big mistake.

The Annihilator was a bugger to find.  Anything on a European label is.  Anyway, Schizo Deluxe was a lot better than the one before it, All For You, which was pure nu-metal junk.  Annihilator's fall was far worse than Metallica's, but Schizo Deluxe is a very good recovery, unlike St. Anger.

Helloween is Helloween.  If you like Judas Priest - but on about the same intelligence level as Priest's release Stained Class, Helloween is a great listen.

Lamb of God is American thrash, but bordering on black metal.  Sacrament's a pretty decent cd - it's okay for a starter, I guess.

Dragonlord is melodic black metal, and unfortunately, I have a feeling it's aiming to be progressive melodic black metal, but the production wound up pumping out a cacophony; it's really hard to spot the rythm and what lies within.  Worth a listen because of all the talent that's in it (ex., Eric Peterson from Testament).  Just bear in mind that it sounds nothing like the bands the members are from.

Rebel Meets Rebel is pretty unique, I already mentioned it on my blog, but it's so cool it deserves a mention.  It's metal meets country blues.  And unfortunately, it was one of Dimebag's projects, which means there may not be a second release (because Dimebag was shot to death in 2004, iirc).  I really didn't like Pantera after Cowboys From Hell, but this is nothing like it anyway.  The singer himself sounds like a cross between ZZ Top's Dusty Hill and David Wilcox - the vocals are good, and I think that's what really makes this one fly.

I'm also now 1/4 through Alistair Reynold's novel Century Rain.  Great sci-fi.  Thanks to a few Chapter's gift certificates, my reading is well covered for the next couple months at least (Also picked up Fallen Dragon by peter Hamilton and One of the Vampire Hunter D novels by Hideyuki Kikuchi).

I am heading to my storage unit now to look for my 360 box and headset. After that, I'll be online intermittently for the rest of the afternoon/evening, probably playing Gears. Hope to meet up with some of you. And get a couple of headshots...:D

Yeah, but I'm getting there. Great time was had by all.

I thought I'd use this thread to disscuss a problem. I saw another thread like this earlier but after looking through the stickies and the threads, you guys got a problem.

It's just way too confusing here.

You got a load of stickies that need cleaning especially concering this one

It points to TOO MANY threads. It's confusing for a new member, not to mention an old member to look at.

I just got a thread locked becuase there was another thread like that mentioned in that thread. Nice in theory, but it got a fatal flaw. it;'s old. Not justa a few months old mind ya, it's nearly a YEAR old. The last post was in May of last year. Sorry guys, but when a dog hits old age, it's time to put it down. There's a bunch of threads in there that are really dated.

Now the thread needs to keep a list of the uptmost topics that are Important. These are topics that are examples are being in the catagory of Importance:

CCU Reviews Thread-A place to showcase CCU members and officers reviews

The Maintenance Thread-Find out how to keep your systems going

The Off-Topic thread-Talk about ANYTHING here

These cut down on the need to sticky those posts, but these topics listed are important enough that there really shouldn't be a duplicate topic of them ever.

These do not:

Favorite Sega System-Which one is your favorite?

Your Favorite Console to Collect For-Tell us why.

Least Favorite-What is your least favorite game related thing?

They are minor topics - discussion topics, never ever worth stickiying. Eventually after 6months or so of a post in them they becme dated, thoughts are old, new people have joined the CCU, it's time for a new topic of sorts, if one chooses to make so.

What I'm getting out (and maybe it was good that I did make that topic, becuase it prolly would have been noticed far later), that your sicy threads are an importnat tool. They gotta be efficent. I went to college, have years of experience i this department so i know what I'm talking about. You gotta bite the bullet and let go of things that aren't so needed to be stickied there, so the ones that are needed tobe looked at are seen and understanded by new and old members alike.

if you want my advice on what to keep from that list: Hee's my advice:

Question and Answer game-A forum game where the person who answers the question may ask one of their own.

Those are the list of items that are not only benifical to a mmeber at the CCU, but a collector as well. What I would also add under that (via a speration line) is the" list Of ___" threads that Ididn't mention. That way you can serpate them from the other threads and make it noted that threse threads are worth looking into if you are a collector (and also rpevents the need for someone duplicating that topic). all the others I didn't mention are worth cutting since they aren't really worth mentioning because they are old, or a user will notice them without beng reminded. I live by the creed "Internet users can be dumb, but you never want them to feel stupid." ;)

More advice, is the links that I list them, list them in order of important, and the list guides, list them in order of systems "Oldest to youngest."

This way, you'll succeed in making an awesome thread worth looking at that "informs, is efficent, and easy to understand."

If you want, I can actually do the thread for you, or submit a nice draft of what the thread should look like. :)

I agree with a lot of that, we'll see if the other officers and leader do.  In other off-topic news, I'm prety dissapointed with the used gaming scene in Tempe, AZ.  Nice place other than that.  The song 'We like short shorts' seems to be the theme song for this city.
