The wait is NOT over for a good F1 game...

I waited a long time for a great Indy or F1 game to play that would be addictive, fun and bring me back for more. Unfortunately, this recent mess released from Codemasters just doesn't cut it. There are many bad things I can say about it. But the bottom line is, it just isn't fun to play. And of course that's what matters.. the fun.

I don't get it. a few years ago, Codemasters made Grid( which I still think is the best racing game they made). That game got it right. It had various types of vehicles to choose from and the F3 aspect was done extremely well. The style was fresh and addicting and at the time I thought if they could make one whole game using the same formula, they would make the best F1 game. However, it looks like they forgot to add the fun ingredient because at no point while playing did I feel like I was enjoying the racing. I tried to like it. But, it's just missing that certain something to keep you coming back.

You better make sure you have a high end pc otherwise you'll
be upset with the graphics. The graphics are good but on any other setting then high, they look like trash. Its clear they had you upgrading your pc in mind. And even on high, I don't think the graphics are that impressive. The shading and lighting doesn't look that good and once again the cockpit view is bad.

I'm not sure what their aim was. A half Sim, half Arcadey type of racer? The simulation aspects are not deep enough to call
it a simulation, and there is not enough zip to call it an arcade racer.

I also don't know what the deal is with Codemasters and their
obsession with a fancy 3d menus. It adds nothing to the game and its annoying and ugly. In Dirt 2 I was in a trailer and again I'm in a trailer at an F1 Circuit. Its ridiculous.. The game has a gloomy look and feel to it. It's attempts at trying to pull you in fall short.

You may think I'm being a little harsh, but I'm a little tired of games that try to do everything and reach every audience. There are no good halfy games. Either make it a Sim or an Arcade racer. But trying to do both with one game turns out like this one, disappointing...
