Amazing spin on asteriods that will suck you in and keep that way for a long time!

ES comes at you out of nowhere. It is simply a artsy colorful twist on the old asteroids to an extent. You'll see it that way for only about 1st 15 minutes of play.
This short and simple game is surprisingly deep and addictive. It features 7 levels that differ almost 100% from each other. Every one of them demands a new approach to chaining, which is your main way of scoring in the game. So while you can play the game to beat it, if you will. Playing single levels and perfecting them is as much as fun, deep and challenging as the play thru.
In addition once you get thru the game and conquer all the single levels to the max you get a chance to employ all the unlocked effects and play the game that way. While that doesnt quite feel like playing a whole new game it will definitely give you more challenge and keep you playing.

Controls in the game are as simple as it gets. Use the sticks or stick/button combo, fly around and blow stuff up. ES does not utilize SIXAXIS in any way shape or form which is somewhat a downer, at least for me. I greatly enjoyed the tilt feature in Blast Factor. But there is a trick to your movement when shooting and not which may seems small at the beginning but plays a much bigger role once you master the game and are chasing high scores.

There is no online modes or whatsoever, and i did not take that against Johnathan Mak, but at least an online scoreboard to compare yourself with other players would have come in handy.
Last but by far not the least is the sound. Music plays a gigantic role in the game. While it is to an extent a center part of the game it also features a very simple but fun soundtrack that will not become annoying as you play, which has been a case such as in the Skyscraper or LocoRoco.

Overall, for $9.99 and the simplicity and "shortness" of the game ES bring a lot of fun, challenge and quite a few hours to be spend to the table and i strongly recommend it as a must play PSN downloadable.
