Right off the bat, the unforgiving difficulty will probably scare off any casual gamers that try and pick up this game so if you arn't prepared for a challenge, then take a hike. For everyone else, this is a game that will have you thinking on your toes untill you catch up to the learning curve and you might even wish it was tougher just so you can experiment with different strategies for beating bosses some more.

The game incorporates a far bit of platforming that I didn't appreciate very much since trying to cross that bridge in Anor Lando and the Bed of Chaos fight were probably the most annoying moments of the entire game but I felt that the incredibly diverse combat and character builds more than made up for this.

On more than one occasion I found myself changing up my entire armour setup just so I could better handle a single fight. For the dark sun gwyndolin fight I realized the only way to win was to be fast on your feet to close the distance before she could teleport away so I went in wearing light armour and a good shield to block her arrows. With the four kings battle I realized that if you didn't kill them fast enough you were going to end up getting double teamed so I changed to some heavy armour and 2 handed the biggest weapon in my inventory because it was quicker to tank hits than it was to dodge or block them. I have never played a game before that offered this kind of diversity.

In terms of story the game comes up with a pretty decent narrative that might actually bring you to tears if it had implemented it into the game better. Unless you're the type of person who reads every item description and re-speaks to every NPC in the game between every boss fight, you'll probably miss out on a lot of details and probably won't even realize that that stranger who attacked you in new lando ruins, blighttown or the duke's archives were your former allies.

The game pulls a few cheap shots that will probably piss you off in the way of instant kill attacks from mimics and a supposed to lose fight against seath the scaless, but you'll be used to dying a lot by the time you get that far anyways so you'll learn to bare with it.

I'm not a big fan of the multiplayer invasions because it seemed like everyone who invaded me was far above my skill level and it was just another way the game annoyed me when I was trying to make story progress, but I'm sure I would have loved it had I been prepared for it.
