This was one of those games that made the N64 famous, too bad it was one of the last. A very good game by Rare.
Rare are well known for their cute characters and their games are well known for not having any bad language or anything that could even get a game to 12+. People got tired of these things at times because it was always cute characters and there was also alot of competition during then.
Rare announced that a game named Conker's Day Out would be released for the Nintendo 64 and screenshots were released for this game. Then Rare changed the name to Twelve Tales: Conker 64. Rare had yet again gotten a cute character to fill the spotlight and people were not so sure that this game would be a success. People were thinking that this game would be get lost into the gates of gaming oblivion and that it would be forgotten and never talked about.
Rare feared this could happen and then changed the tone of the game completely. The game was renamed Conker's Bad Fur Day and sceenshots of the game were released. People were thinking that this was an April Fool's Day Joke but after some months people started to see the truth.
Rare announced the released date of the game to be 21st of April, 2001 and once the game was released, it sold many copies worldwide. In the end Conker's Bad Fur Day was a game with contents of scatological humor, strong language and violence. When this is all added up, it was the first Nintendo 64 game to have all this.
Conker is a red squirrel that is wanted by the Fairy Panther King for his side table which he uses to put his glass of milk on. You start the game as Conker in a place where Conker's doesn't know of and so your journey begins. Conker is drunk and he doesn't know where to go and what to do till he meets a guy named Birdy who tells him about the Context Sensitive Pad, a pad where you need to just press the button B once on top and then you can do what your supposed to do. You may also turn to a weight sometimes or even get a Double Barrel Shotgun! Conker's abilities are jump and once in the air, if Conker jumps again he will peform a helicoptery-tail-thingy. (at least that's what he calls it) Conker cannot punch or kick but rather makes use of the Context Sensitive Pads and a frying pan which can be used by the press of the B button. Conker can swim and can also get away around getting money.
The aim of the story is to get Conker back home to his girlfriend Berri while trying to get past various obstacles and do various jobs for people while earning money from doing them. You'll get to control a dinosaur to eat people and impress someone's girl, get to do a race for your money back, get a hive back and even go to a nightclub. You'll also go to war with the Tediz, a creation of the scientist working for Fairy Panther King and you'll even get to fight in a Matrix type of way.
There's multiplayer mode to, you can choose from seven categories, War, Beach, Raptor, Heist, Race, Tank and the Grim Reaper option. They are all very good and very funny.
There is a cheat menu too where you can enter cheat codes that can unlock many things.
Conker's Bad Fur Day is all around a very fun and nice game and if you want a few laughs you've got to play this game, and if you can't find it anywhere, just download it, even so, Conker's Bad Fur Day could have been a game that many might have not remembered if Rare wouldn't have changed the tone but since it was changed, the game became a classic which, once played, will not be forgotten for many years to come.
