So good, but yet, it makes me so angry.
Now it isn't that Castlevania is a hard game, far from it, it's the way the game is designed that makes it so frustrating. The platform sections are a beautiful thing and a nightmare at the same time. It's all down to the same problem: fixed camera. It's a nightmare for both combat and platforming. Trying to figure out where your meant to go next can be a right pain.
The game is a modern day, old-skool classic; It keeps the modern day pace, while giving you an old-skool feel. It's a Hack N' Slash with Prince of Persia style platforming sections that break up the gameplay. The boss battles go for the GoW3 epic scale, which are amazing, but not quite to the same standard. The combat is also very varied, but at the same time, there is alot to take in with all the different buttons and modes you can go in, and at the end of it all, the moves you pull off feel abit... lackluster.
So why the 9.0 out of 10? Well, because it's bloody awesome. The graphics are absolutely jaw-dropping, the story is really well told and engrossing, and while the gameplay is abit stale at times, the set-pieces and things that you go threw pump it with freshness.
Graphics: Amazing. not alot else to say. 9
Sound: amazing score and voice acting is at the same standard. 9
Gameplay: Great ideas, but it all feels abit dated. If that's what your after, you'll love it. 7
Sh*te Box: Camera!!!! combat can be frustrating on occation.
Overall: if your a fan of CV, you'll love it. Devil May Cry? Love it. It plays like the two games put together, but be warned it isn't perfect. What it does right, it does masterfully, though.
