Axiom Verge

Axiom Verge is a great game.. I like the whole old school era, secrets in walls, upgrades, and exploring the map type games that remind me of Metroid and Castlevania. It's a fun game to explore the alien world of. As you progress ofcourse you get upgrades. Some of the upgrades are really near and cool and allow you access into previously blocked off area's. The weapon upgrades were unique but I never really switched my weapons too much. I kept the machine gun for the whole game until I got the laser gun (which is like the best gun in the game). The enemies are fun to defeat and there is plenty of variety to keep things fresh. I like the ol' school references like the glitches in some of the levels and things like that. This game could of been released 20 years ago and no one would of known the difference!!! I grew up playing old school Metroid and this game definitely brought me back. The only thing I didn't like about it is there was a lot of times I got lost and there was no way to find out where to go next besides check every single area out. When you don't have all the time in the world it got tedious when you walked the wrong way and realized you have to go all the way back the other way because you missed the door to the next area. All in all though Axiom Verge is a great game and shouldn't be missed, especially by those in the age group 25 and older!!
