Ubisoft in Talks With Netflix for a Series, CEO Says

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has revealed that the Assassin's Creed and Far Cry publisher is currently negotiating with streaming giant Netflix for a new series. This information comes from a Reuters report, which mentions that Guillemot said on Monday that Ubisoft was "in talks with Netflix over a series."

That's all there is to go on at the moment. According to the report, Guillemot mentioned the Netflix discussions as part of a response to Vivendi's acquisition of even more Ubisoft shares.

Presumably, the Netflix show would be an adaptation of one of Ubisoft's franchises, though it remains to be seen which series would make the jump.

Competitor Activision recently partnered with Netflix for a Skylanders animated show, Skylanders Academy, which Activision says is Netflix's first original show based on a video game property.

Activision has its own Activision Blizzard Studios to handle TV and movie projects, while Ubisoft has a film and TV division as well, called Ubisoft Motion Pictures. The unit produced the Rabbids Invasion TV show for Nickelodeon, as well as this December's Assassin's Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender.

Last year, it was reported that Nintendo was discussing a Legend of Zelda show for Netflix, but the game company later distanced itself from that report.
