February 14 was Lara Croft's birthday--and also some lesser-known event called Valentine's Day--and to celebrate, Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics showed off Croft's updated look for her upcoming game. Similar to her appearance in Call of Duty, Croft's outfit is directly inspired by her original look and features her trademark shorts, light-blue top, and thigh-holsters for her pistols. The look also references Shadow of the Tomb Raider, as Lara is wearing her jade pendant necklace, a keepsake from her very first foray into archeology.

This version of Lara is a combination of both of her timelines, encompassing both the Core Design-developed games from 1996 through 2003 and the reboot trilogy from Crystal Dynamics, and future projects like Netflix's Tomb Raider anime. The next Tomb Raider game is set to link up Lara's timelines and will be published by Amazon Games. A live-action Tomb Raider series written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) is also being developed at Amazon, and Waller-Bridge is aiming to infuse it with a '90s vibe. Hopefully, it'll also get a banger of a track from Evil U2.

Meanwhile, Tomb Raider fans can go back to the origins of Croft's adventures and face off against a Tyrannosaurus Rex, as Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered has just launched. This new compilation of the Tomb Raider trilogy offers updated visuals, controls, and acknowledgment of its more problematic elements. If you want to see just how the franchise has come since the PS1 days, you can switch back to the original graphics with a single button press.
