Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Features Warning About Racial And Ethnic Stereotypes

It was kept in to "acknowledge its harmful impact and learn from it."

Crystal Dynamics and Aspyr's Tomb Raider 1 - 3 Remastered is scheduled to come out tomorrow, February 14, 2024. Ahead of the game launch, Crystal Dynamics issued a content warning stating that the game has racial and ethnic stereotypes.

Crystal Dynamics included a content warning before the start of the game. It explains that these stereotypes are in the remastered game in "hopes that we may acknowledge its harmful impact and learn from it." The full statement reads:

"The games in this collection contain offensive depictions of people and cultures rooted in racial and ethnic prejudices. These stereotypes are deeply harmful, inexcusable, and do not align with our values at Crystal Dynamics.

"Rather than removing this content, we have chosen to present it here in its original form, unaltered, in the hopes that we may acknowledge its harmful impact and learn from it."

Tomb Raider 1 - 3 Remastered will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. For more gaming news, check out our story detailing the cast of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth.
