Star Wars Fans Wanting Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Should "Write To Disney," Ewan McGregor Says

"Dear Disney, let's have a bit more of Obi-Wan Kenobi please."

Star Wars actor and tea enthusiast Ewan McGregor has called on fans to help convince Disney to greenlight a second series of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The first season ran for six episodes in 2022 and starred McGregor in his signature role as the popular Jedi master, but since then, Disney has been more focused on The Mandalorian and future Star Wars film projects.

Speaking at MegaCon Orlando 2024, McGregor revealed how there were originally plans to film an Obi-Wan Kenobi film before Disney settled on producing a TV series. That format worked out well for fleshing out Kenobi's years in exile after the fall of the Republic, and McGregor believes that there are still more Kenobi stories left to tell.

It was originally going to be a movie, but I kind of think it's better we did it that way. It's a longer story and more satisfying as a result," McGregor said. "We got more time to weave a story. I just hope we do another one. Can everyone write to Disney? Just say 'Dear Disney, let's have a bit more of Obi-Wan Kenobi please.'"

McGregor's last update on Obi-Wan Kenobi season two didn't sound too optimistic, as earlier this month, he told Variety that he would "love" to make a Season 2, but "there's no talk of it yet."

Star Wars fans still have a lot to look forward to in the future, as a second season of Andor will be back on TV screens later this year, Daisy Ridley will return as Rey Skywalker in a new Star Wars movie, and The Mandalorian is also headed to the big screen.
