Puzzle Quest Remastered "The Legend Returns" Announced For Nintendo Switch

The 2007 classic Puzzle Quest is coming to Nintendo Switch. D3 Publisher has announce it's coming on September 19 for $15. Puzzle Quest: The Legend Returns will include remasters of Challenge of the Warlords, the Revenge of the Plague Lord expansion, and new expansion content called Attack of the Golem Lord. That new content includes a bunch of new quests, classes, spells, and items. The remaster is now available for pre-purchase from the Nintendo Eshop.

The Legend Returns will feature 100 new quests with new branching storylines, and five new character classes: Blood Mage, Priest, Monk, Paladin, and Elementalist. The art has been remastered as well. You can see the remaster, along with a glimpse at the new classes, in the trailer below.

The description of the classes in the trailer gives an idea of how most of them will play. Elementalists are all-around fighters and tap every kind of energy. Paladins manipulate the battlefield and draw mostly from yellow gems. Monks rely on earth and fire attacks, and Priests are defensive warriors who use earth and air elements. Blood Mage is the only new class that was not shown in detail in the trailer.

Puzzle Quest is a match-3 puzzle game in which the various colored gems act as different RPG aspects like melee combat or spell-casting. You build your character as you move through the story and gain more power. It was followed by a space-themed sequel with hexagonal grids, Puzzle Quest Galactrix, which is not included in this collection. The games have since been ported to mobile devices, along with the spin-off Marvel Puzzle Quest.
