PS4 Pro Enhancements Confirmed for Two More Ubisoft Games

Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Steep will both be enhanced on PS4 Pro.

At the recent PS4 Pro reveal event, Sony showed Ubisoft titles Watch Dogs 2 and For Honor running on the upgraded console. Now Ubisoft has confirmed to VideoGamer.com that two more of it games are set to feature enhancements on the PS4 Pro.

The PS4 Pro is set to enhance both Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Steep when those games release. However, like nearly every game shown at the PS4 Pro event, it's unclear exactly how the games will be enhanced and what features they'll utilize. The PS4 Pro offers games 4K resolution and potentially higher frame rates, while every PS4 will support HDR after an update set for next week launches.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands is set to release next year on March 7, while Steep is slated for a December 2016 launch. Both games will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The PS4 Pro releases on November 10 at $400, and you can preorder one right now. New accessories include an updated controller and redesigned camera. The controller's main additions are a new light bar on the front of the controller and USB communication support (as well as Bluetooth). The PlayStation Camera seems to have only gotten a visual makeover. Both cost $60.

In addition to the improvements to games, the new system is capable of 4K media streaming via updated Netflix and YouTube apps, though it won't feature a 4K Blu-ray drive. PlayStation president Andrew House explained the exclusion, saying the company leaned into how users are interacting with the PS4.

"Our feeling is that while physical media continues to be a big part of the games business, we see a trend on video towards streaming," he said. "Certainly with our user base, it's the second biggest use case for people's time on the system so we place more emphasis on that area."

IMPROVED frame rate seems to only mean a steadier 30fps ?

How about an actual 60 fps or unlocked

Any game releasing after 0ctober 2016 has to have PS4 Pro enhancements so Ubisoft are not giving us anything they don't have to. What we really want from them is news whether they are going to enhance Far Cry 4, Far Cry Primal, AC Unity or AC Syndicate via a free patch update as a gesture of goodwill.

They're being too hasty with 4K. 1080p/60 fps for all games with sharper visuals would have been enough.

No UHD Blu-ray. Totally blew the nail in Microsoft's coffin. Now I won't buy a second ps4 and will instead wait impatiently for Scorpio. I'm so... So underwhelmed with this garbage money grab

@blueaurora:

Are you a gamer or movie fan. PS4 Pro is a 'games console' at heart, not a 'multimedia console.'

MS do the multimedia consoles. The nail is well and truly driven in for gamers. PS4 Pro has showed that it can fill a 4K screen with high quality content using relatively cheap hardware. Are you really going to wait over a year for a more expensive console that will do the same thing via brute force native 4K, when you see all the awesome looking games you can play here and now, cheaply.

I find it strange you call the PS4 Pro an underwhelming garbage money grab, when you have not seen the full quality this thing is pushing out. We don't have the infrastructure to see 4k HDR demo's on the internet. You will have to view it at a shop running a PS4 Pro through a 4K HDR TV. The image quality will blow you over, especially considering it's a £349 console.

The reason why Sony have been able to get to market first using this years AMD chips, rather than waiting until next year for the more expensive AMD chips, is because Sony have developed a hardware supersampling checkerboard upscaler that delivers a very high quality 4K image. The recent demo's have proved that it's not just some lame Photoshop bicubic upscale.

Nobody is going to wait a year for MS Scorpio when they see what the PS4 Pro is pushing out with cheap hardware. It really is the nail in the coffin, unless MS sell the XB Scorpio at a loss to match PS4 Pro. But most gamers can only afford one console, so the first to market grabs all the sales.

MS have also shot themselves in the foot again by making the xbox exclusives playable on the PC. PC gamers don't need to buy an MS Scorpio now because the exclusives are coming to their PC. They will have to buy a PS4 Pro though, because Uncharted 4, The Last Of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone will never be coming to PC in high quality.

@blueaurora: You'd be waiting so long that by the time Scorpio is released you've saved enough money for a high-end PC that outperforms it.

With the excuse they gave about not supporting UHD media and the dodgy way of promoting the Pro as a 4K console, the stuff Microsoft and Phil Spencer have been saying the last few years don't seem so stupid anymore.

I'm telling you, every dev outside of first party devs will do the bare minimum with their games for the PS4P. They might lock down the framerate more or add a few more lighting effects, but that's it. Just enough to say they did something.

I just hope we will have the option to forego the 4K effects and scale down to the standard 1080p option for improved FPS performance.

My main thing is frame rate. A lot of these games look great already, but if they run at 30 or less FPS then it kind of dulls the whole visual experience for me.

this should be expected.....if you have better hardware the game should look better and run better......i still think they need to worry about real frame rates and get over 4k......i would take 2k upscaled to 4k if it could stay 60 frame all day long......

@smokerob79: Not necessarily. They also have to optimize for the higher framerates. That's why you hear about crap port jobs to PC and why I think most PS4P games will still run at 30fps with just slightly better features. Most devs are too lazy, or more likely most publishers just don't care enough, to optimize games cross platform.

@smokerob79: yeah I like SE's take for TR which was to offer the gamers the choice of eye-candy vs framerate vs upres. As a frequent PC gamer (but someone who also games on console) I like to have some choice over my experience

@xantufrog: with consoles being cheap gaming PC's since OG xbox and PS2 they should have given us settings by now......i know it would screw with online gaming and would need high tick rate servers like PC but the option would be nice to get rid of some of the eye candy for better frame rate........
