Sony today announced the list of free games that PlayStation Plus members will be able to download in September, and, as usual, you'll be able to get two games (or more) each for your PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.
PS4 owners get Sportsfriends, the local multiplayer-focused collection of four games: J.S. Joust, Super Pole Riders, Hokra, and BaraBariBall. Originally released in May, this may be the excuse you need to finally pick up some extra DualShock 4s or to put those PlayStation Moves to use. The other free game is Velocity 2X, the sequel to quality shooter Velocity (and remake Velocity Ultra), which launches on September 2.
PS3 doesn't get any brand-new games, but it does have two that can be played on your own or with friends: the Super Smash Bros.-like mascot fighter PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and strategic action/shooter Hoard.
As Velocity 2X is a cross-buy (and cross-save, much to my delight) game with Vita, owners of the handheld will be getting more than two games in September; they'll be getting four, as PlayStation All-Stars is also cross-buy compatible with Vita. Then there are the two specifically allotted for Vita: Joe Danger--the stuntman-themed platformer from the makers of No Man's Sky--and TxK, the spiritual successor to classic shooter Tempest.
All of these games will be made available to download for free by Plus subscribers beginning next week in the United States, Canada, and Europe. They'll remain free to download and play for as long as you remain a Plus member.
