Marvel and Arkane announced a new Blade game during The Game Awards, and fans were excited to hear about it. But no one should expect to learn more about the project anytime soon.

Arkane's Dinga Bakaba said on social media that the company is going to "stay silent for a while" about the game. However, for now, Bakaba said of the game, "Let me just say this is an absolute blast to work on... I've never been so excited for a project and I'm not crying you're crying!" He released this statement just after the game was announced on Thursday evening.

Now Playing: Marvel’s Blade | Announcement Trailer - The Game Awards 2023

Longtime Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines, who has since left the company, said the Blade game will be "something special." He described the pitch for the Blade game using the fire emoji.

The Blade game is a third-person action-adventure title that takes place in Paris, but that's all that Arkane and Marvel have disclosed about the project thus far.

Arkane Lyon is developing the game, having previously worked on Deathloop, Dishonored, and Dishonored 2. There are no platforms confirmed for the Blade game as of yet. As one of the studios under the Bethesda/ZeniMax umbrella, Arkane is now owned by Microsoft, so many believe the Blade game could be exclusive on console to Xbox. This is not confirmed yet, however.

Beyond the game, Marvel Studios is producing a Blade movie starring Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali. That film is set for release in November 2025 but there is no indication of a date for the game yet.

There are a number of Marvel games in the works beyond Blade. EA is developer Iron Man and Black Panther titles, while Insomniac is developing a Wolverine game. Former Naughty Dog developer Amy Hennig is making a World War II-era Marvel game featuring Captain America and Black Panther.
