Dishonored 2 Officially Announced, Release Window Revealed at E3 2015

Sequel confirmed today during Bethesda's E3 briefing; launching in spring 2016.

Tonight during Bethesda's first-ever E3 briefing, the company officially announced Dishonored 2. This wasn't altogether surprising, as a report from yesterday suggested Bethesda was indeed working on it.

The game is in development at Arkane Studios, the same team behind the 2012 original. It's coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, though a release date was not announced.

Here's the official plot synopsis for Dishonored 2.

"Dishonored 2 is set 15 years after the Lord Regent has been vanquished and the dreaded Rat Plague has passed into history. An otherworldly usurper has seized the throne from Empress Emily Kaldwin, leaving the fate of the Isles hanging in the balance. As either Emily Kaldwin or Corvo Attano, travel beyond the legendary streets of Dunwall to Karnaca--a once-dazzling coastal city that holds the key to restoring Emily to power. Armed with the mark of the Outsider and powerful new supernatural abilities, hunt down your enemies and forever alter the fate of the Empire."

GameSpot scored the original Dishonored a 9 out of 10. Critic Chris Watters wrote, "The compelling abilities, the bold artistic design, the colorful characters, and above all, the freedom of choice--these are the things that mark Dishonored as one of the truly remarkable games of this year."
