All The EA/Origin Access Free Games

EA's subscription service offers dozens of free games.

[Updated August 17 with more Origin Access games]

Electronic Arts' Xbox One subscription service, EA Access, launched in August 2014 with four free games, including FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2, and Battlefield 4. Since then, EA has added dozens more and launched a version of the service on PC called Origin Access.

We've now rounded up all the freebies into lists, which you can see below. We will update this post in the days, weeks, and years ahead when more games are added. EA has vowed never to remove any games from the "Vault" of freebies. "I think one of the key things is that once a game goes into the Vault it stays there, it's not going to be taken out, that's a commitment we've made," Peter Moore said.

No Caption Provided

No version of EA Access is available on PlayStation 4. According to Sony, the service does not offer the kind of value PlayStation fans have come to expect. That being said, Sony maintains that it is open to having a dialogue with EA about how it might be able to bring EA Access to PS4 someday.

In addition to free games, EA/Origin Access members can play some games (but not all) ahead of launch; most of the time, subscribers get a five-day headstart. Another benefit is that subscribers save 10 percent on all EA digital content, which knocks down the price of a $60 game to $54.

The service costs $5/month or $30/year.

While excited about being able to play some EA titles that I've Long wanted to play. I have loaded Origin and Downloaded Dragon age. After wasting 4 Hours of my time trying to trouble shoot why it won't Load And reading many reviews i have decided that EA should no longer be in the gaming business. instead they should stand in front of a gas station and panhandle.

Glad I only gave EA 5 bucks .. Though It would have been better to walk up to the gas station and give my money to a Pan handler that just needs a beer.

Horrible, just Horrible .. you know putting a little effort into EA's digital store would give Their stocks a bump ... So glad Valve done things right.. BYE BYE ... EA

Titles are getting better, they do need more cRpgs and Jrpgs to balance the lineup. So ... Much less Origin please, way more rpgs and EA all access with start being worth the subscription price. Also I am the kinda person who starts one game, and usually play the shit out of it till there is nothing left and then go onto the next one. So 1 .. maybe two games a month at most, and a subscription to hundreds of games means little to me.

@deathwish026: I am an subscriber and I am pleased with the service even though it is EA. I do own most of the games listed but that is okay. I do not have to look through my collection for the program and just go to the site. The only thing one has to keep in mind those programs may drop off time after time so if there is an particular game one likes try to finish it, another reason I am glad I own it.

@deathwish026: haha, for real. For the price of half a game u get all these titles with more added regularly. I'm not a big fan of EA at all, but this is a steal for $30 a year.

Keep in mind that many of these games have already been released for FREE by either microsoftgold or playstationplus subscriptions.

If you take out all of the old sports games (meaning not the newest edition) and all of the games that have been released for free on either console.... There are only 30 games that I counted.

@huddle1: Not true, I don't ever remember seeing any of the battefields as free games or Need for Speed or even the new Mirrors Edge. Plus don't forget EA Access gives you a free trial to every EA game that comes out. Being able to play Battlefield 1, Madden, etc before everyone else is a good touch.

All these people here harping on whether it's "free" or not instead of realizing how much you pay for these games and then stop playing them when the new one comes out. Here's your solution for less than the price of a new game. For a YEAR. I have the free trial of this and wasn't even using it that much. And I just bought Madden 17(I only paid $13 for it but still)...With the way you can share on Xbox, I wonder if it would ever be necessary to buy another EA game.

@topgun182: Yeah, even MS got into it and went one step further than EA by putting some of thier just released games on the site. I look at these subs as long as they are priced right and the games are not mediocre it is a good value to me.

@Downloadpilot: I believe if you want to own the game outright that is how much it would cost if you choose to discontinue the subscription being it is free as long as you subscribe. Read the fine print it is all there and it is legit.

Cool I have been waiting for Titanfall2 so I will be picking that up in September. Didn't care for the way the changed the multiplayer or how they treated the Xbox fans that got them there. But wanted to try the campaign which I heard although short was pretty good.

Never been a big battlefront guy either but will give that a shot too.

How Sony fans keep defending the decision to not even have the option is beyond me. Sony it is an OPTION let the players decide for themselves! Must be more to this, Sony wants a bigger cut or is not capable of managing the subscription servicing safely or losing players private info again.

Nice -- this will bump up player populations in Bespin modes... More targets to slaughter!

The strangest part is that I own every single one of the non-driving, non-sports titles on that list. (The sales that follow ~6mo after release are handy.)

On the PC list, those old Crusader games are MUST-PLAY. Once you get used to the controls and timing, they're so much fun...

Sony was right to pass on this, who in their right mind wants access to that many games for $2.50/month when they can stream ps3 and ps2 titles for only $20/month.

@dreadborne: But you still can't get them for free at least some of them by B/C like Xbox, with PS4 you have to pay to play for B/C or own the original hardware like I do and I do own an PS4 and I also have PSN Plus but I use Xbox and PC extensively. What may be valuable to you may not be to the next. I rather pay $4.99/month or 29.99/yr than $20/mon which adds up to $240/yr and even EAs $4.99 is way cheaper than that. Also Xbox pass beats that and I get to play the newer games.

@dreadborne: Hilarious. No one wants to stream those old titles. EA Access is a much better deal than Playstations streaming service. EA Access allows you to play current gen games and even get a lengthy free trial of every new EA game before its released.

Question: If there's FIFA 17 and Madden 17, would there be any reason why anyone would go back and play the prior games?? I used to buy into sports games and when I did, once I got the most recent iteration, none of the older games got touched (half the time I'd trade up at Gamestop).

I cringe every time they use the word "free" as it relates to this service

It's by no means free. In fact, based on the lineup of games, it's rather expensive. I agree with Sony as there's not much value there to justify the subscription... in my opinion anyway

@cejay0813: It is way cheaper than $240 for Sony service, $4.99/month equals out to 59.99 and it is cheaper to do the 29.99/yr. No the games are not exactly free but are free to play as long as you subscribe and I see it as a good deal versus Sony deal. So who's plan is really expensive and you also have to pay for B/C on PS4.

"games you can play for free with a subscription"

It's as if you are arguing with yourself, in the same sentence. These are diametric ideas being expressed as a single thought... and it makes no sense.

-oxymoron

@gatsbythepig: The key word is "subscription and I think most know that the games are free to play as long as you have an subscription. One just has to think what they want and what has the better value even through the better value is to own the game out right and not do subscriptions however it may be of service to one who rather do an all you can play rather than pay per game.

Did you walk into blockbuster (or gamefly online) and pay to get FREE Games?? No you rentedthem, same goes for EA Access. Do you get to keep the games after you stop paying? No.

It ain't free folks. Though this is a pretty solid service for those that don't own half the catalog.

"EA's subscription service offers dozens of free games."

What? Do we not know the definition of free????? Some Plus and Gold subscribers make the excuse "Well it is free because I'm really just paying for online", but this service literally is just for games and the discount. A good deal doesn't mean its free.

Sony does this as well and it is the most expensive of them all.

@khanwashere: Yeah, I agree with the sports games but MS is also putting thier newest games along with the sport games on the Game Pass and of course you must subscribe at $9.99 which equals out to $120/yr. It would be nice to incorporate this business model with Live somehow even if the price is a little higher.

Saboteurs a game that's far worse then doing a assassins creed trilogy for one month.

Actually that's what it is.
