Great RE! That Dragon Sword bit had me in tears. But honestly I remember when this came out I was at a video store and they had this game playing on a CD-i and I was blown away. It was Disney quality graphics!! On a home console! And you can play it!!!

Plus I love Don Bluth. I still really want to own a version of this game some day.

People , you have to remember, that when this game came out, it was WAY before the 90's it was like early 80's. getting these graphics onto an arcade machine was like supposedly really hard to do back then, for whatever reason. They wanted to create a cartoon movie like experience in arcades. It was actually the first cartoon game that looked like a real animated movie id ever seen. But that was in the 80's.

Never liked this game when it was originally released.

With the way the hooker/princess looks that game might get an adults only rating now.

Oh Danny... how I've missed your humour and hilarity.

The best game I ever played back then was Omni Trend's Universe and it's sequel. It was fun and complex.  Players had to calculate the proper speeds and vectors to enter orbit around the various planets.  Screw up and die.  It was one the best space sims I've ever played.

Danny, you are one hilarious MF. Cracks me up every single time I watch this show. You are awesome!

Is this a remake of an older version as I don't remember it being like this at all?... Mind you the only thing that I do remember is a falling disc and having to run against the clouds blowing at you. And yes, this does make me slightly older than the average touch screen casual gamer.

@dannyodwyer  - Time for a two player game of bubble bobble? Or try your hand at Ghosts n Goblins? the original Prince of Persia? Gauntlet? Dig Dug? Athena? Double Dragon / Renegade? or something from the Zelda series?

Awesome vid Danny, cheers. I think the most entertaining episodes of this show are the ones that piss you off (bad for your blood pressure, but bloody funny to watch).

Have any games pushed you to the "throw the controller at the TV and make up swear words because none that currently exist describe how frustrated you are" level?

When this first released, I never could quite understand the controls. I use to think that you push the stick in the direction of where you want to go. Turned out that it was just four directions.

I really like Don Bluth. His movie the Secret of Nimh is such a classic. The Land Before Time was another of my favorites as a kid.

Thanks for doing this game it was very entertaining :)

Hahaha... Danny always cracks me up.

Two old games that would be great to see here would be 'Lost Eden' and 'Cyberia'. Not sure where to find them (I think both are abandonware by now), but they were short and very cheesy.

Blast from the past but nice to see Random Encounter again. New game suggestions are: Half-Life [1998] and Virtua Fighter 3 [1996].

I wonder how many times he had to continue his game...cuz that is how many quarters I would spend on this friggin game when I was 9.  I hate you Dragon's Lair...

wasakawaka

I pumped a ton of quarters into this game when it was in the arcade near my home that I now wish I could have back. The game was always better in my memories.

There was another one there that played the same way as dragons lair called cliff hanger if I remember correctly.

My first impression of this game was, it looks awesome.

Two mins in and I can't believe that I had thought that earlier.

Great show. I'm going to tune in to Twitch later @4pm to watch the next show live, what is it going to be today?

Couldnt stop laughing during the last 5 minutes. Damn 20 years later we're still QTE slaves. After reading Carolynns article on TLOU and the comments, ya better watch out Dannuh with ur magical rising swords and princess hookers! jk dont ban me...

@wasakawaka Things usually are, that's why we call it nostalgia. What sucks is when you get in a retro mood, go back and play it then realise its shit.

@wasakawaka Cliff Hanger was a video game of the animated movie, "The Castle of Cagliostro".

The Castle of Cagliostro was a movie made based on the Lupin III anime series, and was co-written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki.  It was Miyazaki's debut as a director, and he founded Studio Ghibli 6 years later.

@punksterdaddy Thanks! I'm playing Omikron: The Nomad Soul later. Which is a weird future adventure shooter thing with David Bowie in it. The first game from Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain / Beyond).

@KingofCabal No, and sadly the wedding is now off. Not even joking, but thanks for asking it's kind that people are interested. Guess I've more time to play games now! :P

Wow! Im amazed at your knowledge! It's one of the things I love about this site. :). I will check out the Lupin anime series. Thx.

Oh yes I know the game, although I've never played it.

I will be watching the live stream, since I'm on holiday for the Trades Fortnight and already I am bored!

Also, are you creating any new shows of EFMS soon? That is my favourite show on Gamespot but I appreciate that shows like that are hard to create, so no pressure or anything. >_<

Here is a link until 4pm.

@dannyodwyer sorry buddy that sucks. Wasn't meant to be so no point in dwelling on it but it's always easier said than done.

@wasakawaka You're welcome; I'm glad to share the info!  It's not every day that I meet someone who played Cliff Hanger.  : )

Back then (mid-1980s), I didn't even know what "anime" was -- but I loved Cliff Hanger.   15-20 years later, I was absolutely delighted to learn that all of the animation came from a feature length anime movie.  I bought the movie, watched it, and loved it.    Still do.

If you'd like to watch the movie, a Google search for "Castle of Cagliostro" shows that it's free to watch on hulu.com.   I just found that out, and will finish my reply now to enjoy the opening "escape from the casino" scene once again.  : )

Enjoy!
