Haha "at least 60 hours." I'm about to hit 300. Great game, just finished these missions for the umpteenth time myself
It took me 2 minutes to figure out that he was using the British pronunciation of router. Totally thought he was talking about a toilet.
Borderlands 2 is an excellent excellent game. Hella fun to play in cop with a housemate or some such pal.
johnny keep up the good work, did a great job.
I'm glad to know that even people who get paid to report, review and play games also have home latency problems. And room-mates they game with... Yeah for fellow Nerds!
Come on you guys. Give Johnny a break. He did a great job this time. There's no reason to criticize him for this episode. If you want to do it there are a bunch of other ones. Keep this up, Johnny!
Heya Johnny, good video this time around. How about Rogue: Legacy for the next one? I can see it inducing vicious amounts of anger and frustration for you.
Johnny, you should do an episode of Feedbackula about yourself and how you ruin Random Encounter LOLOLOL
i love this game so much ive played over 300 hours..... which is over 12 days if u were wondering. Best game ever!
Thanks again, Johnny. It was a fun livestream.
Glad to see you in a good mood =]
The haiku competition was a nice touch (if only my brain had decided to join us I'd have rocked that boat).
Borderlands 2 is no masterpiece, but who cares! it's way to much fun to leave it on the shelves!
I wasted so many hours on this game and have no regrets!
Haha! Me and my friend Mike used to shout across the landing at Uni instead of using voice chat, hilarious.
The first Borderlands was awesome so this obviously was too. More game suggestions are: Cadillacs And Dinosaurs and Beat Hazard .
Fu(k You also Gamespot. Put back the mute on the damn commercials. Esp when they are loader than the actual video.
lolz that was funny to watch XP
As a hardcore Borderlands 2 fan with over 700 hours in this game I gotta say though, it pains me a little to see how little of this game was shown in here
I get that this show is all about trying out random things, but it'd be nice if you could get someone who really knows a thing or two about this game, just for a few minutes, to showcase and explain some stuff... because really, this game has more than just "Lets shoot things in the face!"
Anyway, nice job Johnny, nice to see you after feedbackula was off :P
@Errorcutive i'm not taking over Random Encounter, don't worry. Danny was at home in Ireland for a week, and he's off to Comic-Con this week. He'll be back after that. I, meanwhile, have too much to do this week, so it's in the capable hands of Seb and Cameron!
@chebba98 We weren't. But yes BL2 is excellent.
@halo-freak I just happened to think it's a masterpiece
True, it has some flaws and some mechanics that are made there are just plain stupid.... but it is a masterpiece nonetheless :)
@Halloll I seriously hope this was sarcasm
@PinchySkree It's more fun that way, for sure.
@Wensea10 Beat Hazard is a great game, especially the Ultra variety with added power-ups, more enemy types and more perks. One thing I've noticed though is that how much you will enjoy the game very largely depends on your track selection. Playing Beat Hazard to something fast and furious, like some psytrance or industrial is really great. But trying to play with slower beats and tracks with lots of down time or breaks makes the flow of the game really weird and unpredictable.
@sammoth You know gamespot also needs money. Nothing can be done bout' the commercials
@sammoth Why people keep complaining about commercials??? Damn, I use Adblock Plus for Firefox since it came out and I don't even remember what commercials are like. Use your head, damn...
@SrebX Personally I found the game to be a bit too linear and restricting. It seems to offer a wide variety of play styles, but it actually doesn't. It's tuned very much in favor of run and gun, and if you're into anything other then run and gun this game will be almost hellishly difficult. It makes me think of the Civilization games where it's possible to play a peaceful game without ever going to war, but it's so much harder that way. The game is just not tuned for that.
For example I am a fan of playing shooters through the scope and staying at long range (games like Far Cry 3 and STALKER really allow that type of style, and the first Crysis game did as well.) Not really possible in Borderlands 2, enemies don't appear when you're far away, and as soon as the first shot is fired you only have 5-10seconds before the first chargers are chewing on your face, and a lot of the environment outside of the "settlements" is barren, mostly featureless, meaning sitting out there with a sniper leaves you completely open to enemy attack from all directions.
I guess it's as much my fault as the game's. Games are generally tuned to some specific play style, for BL2 that play style is run and gun. If run and gun isn't your thing then BL2 may not be the best option for you, exactly how it's not the right option for me. But I think it's something that needs to be made clear to the gamers, this video shows a lot of scoped shots, but being all broken up into several-second-long clips doesn't really showcase much of the actual game play, just random bits. Basically this whole post could be summarized as "to each his own."
@SrebX yes yes ur rite i still play this game wit all DLC and luv this game so much i just cant get bored wit it.quests are incredible the humor and personality is to the max 10/10 game
@1wikkid1 @SrebX I admit, at first sight this game seems to be very limiting in the aspect of gameplay styles, though I learned that with the right gear, setup and skills pretty much anything is possible in this game
For example, It's true that this game is very anti-stealth because after the first shot it's basically impossible to surprise the other 20 enemies that come charging at you, but, it is possible to pull them back with singularity, though you will have to line up your shots pretty quickly from then on.
After more than 700 hours in this game and finishing it 3~4 times with each character [total of 19 playthroughs] this game still surprises because of all the different ways you can approach situations ...
Did you know that nearly any character can be pure melee? [Yep, not just Zer0 :P] did you know that Maya could be a very good sniper and is in fact better than Zer0 with sniping in many of ways?
What I love about this game so much, is that just by respecing and/or changing your gear a little bit, it can feel like a whole different game :)
Sorry for typing too much, i hope you'll take the time to read it
Not only the writing is good and the game is generally fun, there are lots of creative and fun ways you can approach fights... Simply by changing your build and skills you can play entirely differently and feel like it's a whole different game...
You can do some really wacky fun stuff in this game with all the builds and gear combination there is out there, I wish Gamespot would showcase some
ANY soft of gameplay style is 100% viable and possible to do in Borderlands 2, I can tell you that for sure
True, it's challenging with long range since the game clearly isn't built for that, but you can actually pull that off either with the right setup and strategy
This game offers so mant different kinds of weapons that it is in fact possible to do pretty much anything, even things that the game wasn't made for. For example, I saw a youtube video about someone who developped a strategy with Zer0 about how to purely focus on damage and pretty much never get hit.... The game is obviously not built for avoiding damage, though the guy pulled that off somehow :3
Believe me, I've been around this game since day 1 and explored it so many times and I can tell you this: ANY sort of gameplay is viable.
You can in fact take a long range strategy and be successful with it, though in this case it's pretty difficult since the game simply wasn't built well for it :\ but IT IS possible
HOWEVER, these things in the game require very paticular gear and build, so in order to develop those playstyles one need to know the game, it's mechanics and possibilities. Therefore, any casual player will obviously won't be able to access all the playstyles and possibilities this game has to offer
I'm not saying that BL2 doesn't have plenty of potential. I do realize that it's a great game. I just think that the limitations should be put a bit more up-front, so that the people who see this vid and decide to try the game are not ultimately disappointed with it like I was.
There are a great many games that offer a large variety of play styles. It's why I mentioned Far Cry 3 and STALKER, both of those games (four games actually, there's 3 STALKER games) can be played run and gun. But at the same time they are set in environments that do allow long range playing. I'm not even talking about stealth, that's just a buzzword to gather more attention as far as I'm concerned. (very very few games offer anything even resembling stealth) But I'd like to be able to pick a few spots and clean the whole base out without being forced into CQB, the keyword there is forced.
BL2 just doesn't allow pure long-range play, that's not what the game was made for, even though it does offer a huge variety of scoped weapons they're not really meant to keep enemies at range.
It basically comes down to what you like, I'd prefer to spend an hour clearing out a single outpost but then clean it out without taking a single hit. Instead in BL2 it's about running in and quickly slaying anything and everything in sight, basically it's not a strategic game, it's more about short-term tactical decisions and constant firing and movement. Basically, anybody looking for long range playing should first look at other titles, ones that do accomodate that play style.
Essentially that's what my posts are meant to be, advice to those who are looking for the same style of playing as what I'm looking for.
