GS News - Microsoft Lays Off 18,000; Destiny Beta Not 1080p On Xbox One

Terrible news about layoffs no doubt Steven Elop the most incompetent CEO in history will have a safe job now he has stolen Nokia for Microsoft.

1080p mean nothing to me. I have ps4 and xbox one but still getting it on xbox one... I am playing the beta on my ps4 tho and its pretty good. Definitely over hyped IMO and the fact its the first Bungie game to grace a playstation console is more likely why the hype is there. Its the biggest game the ps4 has this year so of course Sony is going to hype it.

As for Xbox Ones doubled sales, kinda figured that would happen. As a gamer who owns all consoles and after E3 I'm not sure what is causing people to buy PS4 so much? I like the console but nothing on it right now screams "BUY ME"... IMO Xbox One just has better games right now so that plus its features are worth the purchase. Xbox One needed Halo MCC to release on June 9th when the console went to $399. I mean MS should have at least released something to entice people to buy the $399 console on June 9th instead of waiting until November....

Destiny is nothing new. For the most part - true. However, even the most creative material usually is based on something that was successful. So what if it takes some of the key aspects from Halo... Halo was badass. Not to mention it was Bungie's brainchild - a brainchild that was, more or less, stolen by Microsoft. They took many of the key aspects that made Halo great, threw in some other award winning features from other game titles (not Borderlands - just because it falls into the same category, Shooter/MMO, does not mean it is the same), mixed them together with a touch of new and shiny and made what is and will be one of the biggest games of this year. 1080p or not, its a great game from what everyone can see. Is it perfect? No. But Bungies did well.

I will not change my opinion of Destiny for you haters that post stupid comments. For those how call Destiny a watered down Borderlands clone, I did not get the memo, I did not know Borderlands had a pizza flavored johnson that people liked to suck so much. I dont know anyone that still plays Borderlands 1or2 or says anything good about it ever, while almost everyone I know could not even imagine gaming without the Halo series which invented matchmaking also. BTW, There is such thing as too much looting and Borderlands taught us all that.

It's not 1080p on PS3 either but the game still looks great and I'm having a lot of fun with it, so I don't think it's going to be an issue for X bone owners. I bet it will look great and they will have a lot of fun. Resolution is not the most important thing ever.

Xbox sales doubled without the Kinect???? I'm no genius (HELL I DON'T EVEN HAVE A COLLEGE DEGREE), and even I could have predicted that one!

The final release won't be 1080p on xbox one neither, they are just holding back that disappointing news as to not effect sales and pre orders.

Wow you should play Destiny on PS3 and PS4. Both are amazing.

Have you even played Battlefailed 4 because I have never seen a turd like that come out and call itself a game. I traded that social experiment after it erased my SP save the 3rd time and the MP is broken lag crap.

Destiny is the obvious choice over anymore EA experiments unless you like trash online like Battlefailed 4.

does anybody know about how Destiny (the actual game not a demo or beta) was suppose to come out last month?

after watching this video, i don't know whether to get Destiny or Battlefield: hardline.

@hitomo @Dannystaples14 I want a WiiU to play Bayonetta 2 and the Wonderful 101. But I'm not really big into mario, or zelda or kirby and I havent really just had an extra $300 that I felt like spending on it. I can see the brilliance in their games but they arent for me. I have sat and watched by nephews play it for hours though its entertaining I know that.

I'm not going to play Destiny. This is just my opinion, but I think the game is just a borderlands clone with a few added features and gimmicks. Its like an MMO without the real depth but some of the added tedium like inventory juggling and itemization (bleh).

I watched the live stream last night and it reminded me a lot of Defiance. I know its probably not really like that and will be a huge hit, if for no other reason than 12 million people with PS4s & X1s starving for a AAA title, but I think its gonna have phony success like WatchDogs. Lots of units moved but not really that great of a game. Hope they prove me wrong

Well, we can talk about graphics and hp under the hood, or the bonnet if you'd prefer that, of gaming consoles all day long, but in the end the major reason for consumers to buy a console are the games. Sure, it's important that your big budget games look shiny-shiny and that the price of the console is fair, but if the console manufacturer has put a superb, unique and exclusive AAA-hit on the shelves of the stores, people will buy the console anyway. And that is so important that we even gave those games their own name some time ago: system-seller.

Played Destiny alpha and regardless if it's 1080p or not, it still looked like a last gen title. The game is overrated. I played for 6 hrs and I could not understand why anyone would hype this game up

So a white PS4 themed Destiny bundle coming in September AND the PS4 had early beta access. Yeah I KINDA think they are putting alot more effort into the PS4 version, also meaning it will most likely have a higher resolution to seal the "deal". I certainly hope Destiny isn't pushing these consoles to the limit, but then again Watch Dogs couldn't get to the glorious 1080P on these new boxes. Not worth 399.99 kids, wait for a discount.

@webheadx @55584623 @Dannystaples14 same here hehe! in the end i think it's the core gameplay that matters, i don't mind at all playing on last gen as long as the essence of the game remains intact. Sure there are graphical differences, just like there are between consoles and PCs, but should they really constrain us from enjoying a good game? Couple of weeks ago i was playing Deus Ex again and was having a blast.

The protagonist head is pretty much a textured cube lol!

@hitomo I've been tempted with the Wii U but Nintendo's games haven't done anything for me since the 90s. I'm just straight bored of them.

Xbox One, a bit of PC and I'd be happy. Well I wouldn't be upset if I bought a PS4 but given the choice I prefer Xbox.
