Bloodborne looks okay. I mean if it comes out next to MGS 5, Dying Light or even CoD I'd prolly choose those over it. It's exactly the same as DS 1, 2, 3, cept u have guns, faster movement speed, regenerating health and gore - gameplay mechaniacs bout chaining and unleashing awesome looking combos etc thats great seems like a hybrid of DMC and DS but it's nothing new at all.

REALLY? Doesnt feel like dark souls? the Atmosphere?? IT LOOKS EVERYTHING LIKE dark souls, and it aint a bad thing... but imagine a new GTA with the same mechanics and same things thant the previous one... For me Bloodborne looks just like a victorian Dark souls.. for now... but im gonna F***ing play it because its gonna be awesome... but do no say into my face it doesnt look, feel and smell like dark souls

This game will be on my collection. But this teaser just threw me off a bit. The hack & slash is a bit boring. The werewolf part looks great. I am expecting lots from this game. They have got to show us a deep involved level.

I don't get why everybody is calling this a "Dark Souls Clone" when it not. Its from the same dev, so its more a spinoff than anything. I mean, we don't call New Super Mario Brothers a "Mario Bros clone" do we? I know its just semantics, but it seems so foolish.

The only way I feel Bloodborne could bring anything new the souls games haven't already is if it focuses more on an actual plot. I get that the souls games weren't meant to be story-driven and they're perfectly great games, but if you're going to try to sell us a "new" game where the animations are the same, the layout of health bars and such is almost identical, the same screen with the same font and same border pops up when you pick up an item, you make the same sound when you hack at an enemy, and on top of everything you don't give us a proper story to drive the game, I sorta feel like either you're not making much of an effort, or you're just out of ideas.

FPS looks bad - PS4 is a low quality console, a modern Gaming PC could easily play it at 60 fps and more then 1080p, depending on Gpus, the game could run at  60fps 4k resolution on PCs, without the need of paying over 500$ for one year of Bllodborne, which will always need PS+ membership to be playable, multiplayer is to important to play the game just as single player game.

i know how bad the souls games were running on PS3, this looks very near it ... and i am sure they tried to use a scene where you don't see it that much.

I will just wait for a PC Version and if it doesn't come like it looks now, i will be happy to save more then 500$ for a crappy PS4 Game that runs at settings far away from what it could be on PC.

lets see how much will buy a crappy PS4 for to much money, willed to pay every year again to be able to play it - just to play one damned game.

I remember sony calling Demons Souls a very bad game, bringing it only to japan first.

If Fromsoft would be interested in bringein a good game they wouldn't make it PS4 exclusive adn they wouldn't have made DS2 a bunch of crap. Now Ds2 should come to Nextgen consoles (for better graphics?!).

Seems like they only want the $.

The game looks even more like DS2 then DS (gameplay)

One game that has Souls-ish combat coming up is Lords of the Fallen.  Not sure if that was the one Kevin was thinking of.

Bloodborne is not just a Dark Souls clone..it only has the same interface, you gain souls to upgrade your stats etc.

Yeah totally not the same at all.

Dear Gamespot,

Your video player is bad and you should feel bad.

Graphics look good. Combat looks like a watered down version of Witcher 2's. Never understood the appeal to this, the Souls games all look like they are out of date. This games combat looks like it might have been cool 2 gens ago.

The gun don't seem to be doing anything to the enemies...

How come Gamespot didn't review Dark Souls 2 DLC? I haven't bought it yet. I know only 1 episode of the trilogy DLC has been released. Are they waiting for the 3 parts of it?

Finished DemonS, DarkS and DarkS2 and loved every second of it.  I am SO PUMPED up for this.

I was skeptic about this game at first because I'm not a fan of the Souls series, but I might give this a try, it has an odd gothic allure to it....

I totally agree, I'm not a souls fan. Yet I'm impressed by Bloodborne :)

I like how pebbles can draw out single enemies from groups for one on one encounters.

Keeping space during an enemy attack is obviously important, especially now that shields are gone. If you're close to that enemy swinging that brick, one of probably four attacks he probably has, you'll likely die within 3 seconds.

Not shown here, but when the werewolf looking beast grabs the player and chomps on him for a good 7 seconds, that's obviously a critical attack, and as we all know, if we are early level and it gets us in that, we are dead. In the demo he didn't die, but it's turned down, and in retail game, that is death.

Experimenting and learning and timing the transforming weapons is going to be fun. And there will be dozens upon dozens of different ones.

Our characters will likely look nothing like the character being played in the demo when we play. I'm really curious what the classes will be

@Rainkash Shortcuts from Dark.  Everything else is Inspired by Demon Souls.

But you wont be able to approach play Bloodborne the same way as the Souls Games.

There's an old game, wich i consider the parent of dark soul game style, its name was Severance Blade of darkness i dont know if that was the name they were trying to remember on the video

@Vrygar777 Had it been called "Blood Souls" nobody would be arguing.

How can you watch this video and get anything other than dark souls out of it? What exactly is different besides the environment having a different feel? The combat looks almost 100% the same lol.

I suppose to the untrained eye, all those things look the same... Change isn't always good, FF13 taught us that.

@Lykanthropie You must have only played the Souls games on the PS3. The first Dark Souls in particular ran horribly on PC, even after installing community-made patches. Blighttown was a slideshow in places, and that's running on an overclocked 7950. I had to go buy an Xbox controller just to make it playable as the control scheme was so poor too.

That and I have both a gaming PC and a PS4, and there's very little difference in display quality. They've bridged the gap between console and PC very well with this generation.

M3o5nster
M3o5nster

Lol PC tears... This is 4 the players. Btw the head at Sony said the game was bad because he thought people wouldn't want a game that difficult. Clearly he was wrong and later apologized.

Wthef dude the interface are always like this since the first souls..i bet u didnt complain about this when u play dark souls 1 and 2

Every negative reception for this game usually came by PC gamers

U prob one of them

Combat is nothing like The Witcher 2's. The combat in these games is precise, intricate, weighty and based on timing and stamina management. It's also tactical. But you obviously have no idea what you're talking about, and admit so when you said you never played it

jynxten
jynxten

@dani_i89 Considering Demon's Souls was out before the Witcher 2, if anything it is the other way around.

meedokicky
meedokicky

@dani_i89 you keep saying "looks like" :P Looks like you haven't played any Souls games.

I haven't played any WItcher games, but I can tell you the combat in Souls games is very strategic, and quite satisfying when done right.

jynxten

@Jawehawk-DK It's just supposed to open them up for an attack, or stop them when they're in mid-attack. It's used defensively, not offensively.

@strrckshn I hope you are right, i mean, i dont mind playing another soul game with a different "skin" but i would love to see a new formula based on the previous ones... i know this game will kick asses, i just dont want it to be more of the same

Gankstar_VX84

@Rainkash I played Severance Blade of Darkness, bought it launch day all those years ago, was atmospheric eerie and creepy and one of the better games I ever played. Amazon class was just ridiculously OP though.

The Mechanics are totally different.  Sure familiar because who the Creator is.

It's a new I.P. so of course the story is different. The U.I. isn't the same, the placement is different as well as how it works. Dedicated button for heal items, being able to combo throwing items, such as oil and Molotov cocktails. The regain system that heals you when you counterattack, promoting more aggressive gameplay. No shields to hide behind, along with having to combo initiate backstabs. Enemies now patrol the streets in packs and your able to toss pebbles at them to draw them out using stealth. And we haven't even started on the new multiplayer elements...

Like I said, to the untrained eye, it may all seem the same.

ianhh6
ianhh6

@M3o5nster Perhaps you could instead illuminate me on how the things I mentioned are different to their souls counterparts? And yes, FF13 was shite, but FFX wasn't, nor was 12 for that matter, and they all brought change; and for those FFs that weren't different gameplay-wise, the developers at least brought unique stories to each game, which is precisely the point I'm making: If you're not going to change the gameplay in a new title (which to me it seems like they haven't) then bring a unique story to the game.

@Gomtor @Lykanthropie Classic master race pencil-neck xDDD

It must hurt his tiny feelings not having Demons Souls.

Let me twist that knife in his back, Bloodborne is coming to.....PS4 only xDDD

dani_i89
dani_i89

@jynxten @dani_i89  Incorrect. I didn't say Souls copied Witcher, I was making a comparison. Instead of saying Souls combat seems like watered down Witcher combat, I can say that Witcher combat is improved Souls combat.

dani_i89
dani_i89

@meedokicky @dani_i89  I haven't. I tried to play it for PC, but it's that badly optimised I couldn't get past the menu. It just looks like it's made to be hard for the sake of being hard. I like hard games, but this looks too slow and frustrating.

@dani_i89 @jynxten It most certainly is not, although I'll admit they do have similarities. Totally different style though Give one of these games a shot, I'm pretty sure you'll change your opinion(pretty sure you'll like it too).

ianhh6
ianhh6

@M3o5nster Fair points all of them. I'm not bashing the game... I simply feel like it's far too similar to be considered new I.P. The things you pointed out seem more like tweaks to the combat rather than great differences to me, similar to the whole "shield or torch" thing in DSII. And that is why I raised the point of the stories; the story is going to be different just like Demon's was different to Dark's, obviously, but if it's still not the focus point of the game, I personally don't feel like it's so vastly different from it's predecessors,

Nobody argues that Jak & Daxter and Uncharted are clones, even if they're by the same devs; the very fact that there is a discussion on whether it's a clone or not seems to prove that it is, at the very least, very, very similar.
