If you're a big fan of LotR then this is the game for you, but if you're not a big fan you may want to save your money.

User Rating: 8 | The Lord of the Rings: Conquest PS3
The Lord of the Rings Conquest allows you to fight many battles from the movies and features a new evil campaign that shows what would happen if Sauron regained the ring.

I really had a lot of fun with this game, I like the way you can change your character at anytime so it doesn't get boring and it captures the feeling of The Lord of the Rings, but the game isn't flawless, at times it can be annoying when they knock you down and won't let you up.

Both campaigns modes are only around 5 hours long, it would have been nicer to have a longer campaign mode with more of a story but there are many more game modes you can try out to. You have Hero Deathmatch, Conquest, Capture The Ring, and Team Deathmatch.

In the campaign mode you fight many of the battles you see in the movies and you will have to complete mission objectives to win, at certain parts you can play as a hero.(And I won't spoil it for you) After you complete the good campaign you unlock the evil campaign, which is the same but your evil. There is some replay value thanks to the trophies.

In Hero Deathmatch many of the heroes and villains from The Lord of the Rings fight it out, you can pick which side you want to be on and the first one to the set amount of kills wins, it's as simple as that.

In Conquest you play as normal soldiers, your goal here is to capture all the control points on the map, when you capture a control point you may change your class and if you are killed you can start from there, if your opponent has all the control points you can't respawn so a timer starts, when it ticks to zero you lose, to stop the timer just capture a control point. It will also end if a team runs out of people, half way trough the fight you unlock a hero or villain to use.

In Capture The Ring you and your opponent have to capture rings and take them back to your base, the first one to get to a set amount of rings wins.

Team Deathmatch is the same as Hero Deathmatch but you use normal soldiers, half way trough the fight you unlock a hero or villain.

In all modes you will have different classes you can use, you have the Warrior, he has a throwing axe he can throw, he is also really strong and can pull off many combos. He can also use a fire sword but it takes energy.

The Archer is weak but can take you from far away, they can zoom in, shoot fire arrows, poison arrows, and 5 arrows at once but this all takes energy so you should use it wisely.

The Scout is the weakest, he has normal attack but he can throw bombs, disappear and stab you in the back, and they can pull of normal combos. Some of this takes energy.

The Mage is the strongest, they can shoot lighting, use melee attacks, shoot fire, they can use shields, and they can use my favorite, the shock waves.

You can also use trolls, ents, and elephants...

The troll can pick people up and throw them, he can use his club to hit them, and his strongest attack, he can punch them.

The ent is the same but you don't have a club and they are weaker. Its really easy to kill them, just catch them on fire.

The elephants can use the people on there backs to shoot arrows, and they can use their tusk to attack.

You also have horses, wolfs, and catapults.

One of the best things about this game is they use the real LotR music, this was a big thing for me, it helped capture the feeling of the movies.

But The game has many flaws holding it back, the most annoying thing is when your opponent starts attacking, they don't stop, they won't yet you move or nothing.(You may want to play on easy) When you're on horses or wolfs you just keep getting knock off the back of them. The short campaign doesn't help any either. I won't be able to give my opinion on the online gameplay because I don't have online.

So the bottom line is if you are a big fan of LotR then you will love this game, but if you're not a big fan you may be better off spending your money elsewhere.
