Although Skyrim offers many great additions to the series, I still have a been there, done that feeling.

So this is the most hyped game in recent memory. I think it was even more hyped than the new CoD and Battlefield game. I try to ignore hype and judge a game based on its content. The main thing I love about Bethesda's games is how complex they are. They put hundreds of books in the game just for back-story, for example. There are endless side quests. I really admire the effort they put into it. But these things were kinda expected for the new release. I never got to play Oblivion when it was released and popular, but it was something I always wanted to try. I bought Oblivion spring of 2011 and played it throughout summer so I would be prepared for Skyrim. As fun as these games are for a while, there is a certain point in time when they lose their steam. In Oblivion, I beat the main quest and completed the Mages Guild quests and did not have much desire to do anything else. It sounded awesome to complete everything, but the work getting there did not sound fun. Although all the additions to Skyrim have been pretty cool, I have had this desire problem to a more drastic extent. I suggested this game to a friend who had never played any game in the Elder Scrolls series and he is addicted. He has played the game a lot longer than I have. The main problem I have with Skyrim is that I just started (for Elder Scrolls standards), and I already have no desire to play the game. I think this problem is rooted in the fact that 90% of quests are fetch quests. At the moment, I have joined the magic college, the music college, and the Imperial Legion and for those three and the main quest, I have to do a fetch quests. This gets old quickly for me since I played through Oblivion recently and because most of the dungeons look the same. The game is very well-made, but I think they could have focused more of their effort into the quests and dungeon designs. Although, I'm not far in the main storyline. Maybe that will be awesome.
