Lots of fun to be had at skyrim

Well skyrim is here and like most people I have spent a lottttt of time playing this game. I was never much of an elder scrolls fan but I figured I would give this one a chance. I like fallout and I was told this one is not much different game play wise. The first thing you will notice when you first start playing this game is the graphics. It looks beautiful to say the least. A lot of time was spent on the look and feel of this game and its well worth it. You get to create a character and chose from a bunch of classes and then you are throw into the game. Lots of action from the start give you impression this is going to be an action packed game. Oh boy are you in for a surprise.
Its really hard to put into words the bad things about this game because there are not many. You really have to be nit picky to find any in a game like this. A lot of them are minor things that really do not make the game bad. You can build up your character as a magic caster or a fighter or even both. You level up kinda fast in the beginning and it gives you skills that you can use to make your character stronger besides the basic health magic stamina level up. It allows you to also save the skills for later use. As you use different things it also levels up that skill for later use. Like if you use 2 handed weapons a lot your 2 handed weapons level will be higher. I chose to be a combo of both but you could pick either one and be strong.
I think the combat is pretty simple but it tends to just become a button masher. After awhile you just keep pressing the same buttons over and over again with not much strategy involved. You also have the ability to get a companion to follow you which then leads to another annoying thing about the game. Going into a room or any tight quarters the companion will follow you then stop and you are stuck.. yes stuck because the companion will not move you cannot move then and you are stuck there trying to jump over them or hitting them with your weapon to make them move. Also companions do not know the art of sneaking so they run into combat. See enemy attack enemy so that can kinda hurt you when you have to sneak as part of a quests. Oh yes the quests. In this game there are A LOT of quests to do but after awhile you start to realize uhmmmm these quests and dungeons kinda look THE SAME.. yes over and over again the same things you will be doing. After awhile it becomes boring just doing a quest.
I understand that it is difficult to make quests different and I also know that in the beginning you need the simple quests to help level up you character but jeesh... I am at level 41 and I am still doing transporting quests.. something has got to give. The game also suffers from the usual things that games like this suffers from when it comes to combat. You go into a dungeon/cave and sometimes its just one or two monsters. Then all of a sudden you will be surrounded by 5 or 6 monsters and you will be killed. It goes from easy to difficult quickly which to me at times is no fun. I think the game is best played in bursts of time. I rarely played the game more then 5 hrs at a time because after awhile it becomes frustrating. I have played the game more times for 45 mins because you hit a part and are like ok I need a break because of the on slaught of enemies.
I know that you can level your character up to level 80 something but once you hit around 30 the dungeons start go get easier to go thru in terms of enemies. In terms of walking around time no.. you spend again A LOT of time walking around. Walking thru dungeons thru towns thru forests everywhere. You can buy a horse but you will still be walking around just on a horse!!. If this sounds boring its because it is. A lot of the 100+ hrs you will be putting into this game will involve walking from place to place getting something to give to another person or going to a dungeon again and doing the same thing again. It sounds boring because after awhile it is.
There are a lot of things you can do like enchanting and making herbs things like that. When I played this game I used little of that and was still able to solve the game relatively easy. Its just going to take a lot of time haha. All of this being said the game can be a lot of fun if you just play it thru and understand that yes you will be spending a lot of time doing the same things over and over again. Also there is not an "ending" per se where you have an end screen. I guess because this is a sprawling role playing game you do the last main quest mission but are still able to continue doing other quests. Oh forgot to mention there are dragons.. and what do you do when you see dragons!! You KILL THEM.. yes thats what you do you kill them.
I would have to say that overall this is a wonderful game that is well worth playing if you go into it knowing what it is. Its a great role playing game that at times will be very boring. That is the reason why they have a save button then you put the game down and come back to it later. The role playing aspect is wonderful in that you get to play a role and I have to say this is definitely worth a buy. No need to rent it buy it because you will enjoy it.
