User Rating: 8.5 | Sonic the Hedgehog (Live Arcade) X360
Sonic The Hedgehog was released for the Mega Drive/Genesis back in 1991 and marked the debut of the blue hedgehog that would forever change the world of video-gaming. This X-Box Live re-release has some new features including HD Graphics, Leaderboards, Achievements and much more. This is also the first game to be released under Sega's new "Vintage Collection" series.

GAMEPLAY:
+ Accurate gameplay that still plays well, even on an X-Box 360 controller.
+ Controlling Sonic at high-speed is still an exciting experience.
- Some weird jumping bugs still intact from the original game.

GRAPHICS:
+ Perfect graphics emulation with no hints of slowdown.
+ 16-Bit graphics still retain a lot of detail, colour and charm.
- Smoothing graphics makes all the in-game sprites look like oil paintings.
- Clean but relatively barebones presentation.

SOUND:
+ Memorable songs still song as good as ever.
+ All sound effects are still 100% accurate.

VALUE:
+ The entire game in full for just 400 Microsoft Points.
+ Online Leaderboards and a nice variety of achievements that spans different play levels.
- Lack of a spin dash-enabled mode is a tad bit dissapointing, considering recent re-releases on other consoles.

REVIEWER'S TILT:
It's been a long time, but Sonic has finally made his long-awaited X-Box Live Arcade debut and it doesn't dissapoint. Everything that made the original such a classic is still retained. Add that and a bunch of extra additions for a completely harmless 400 Microsoft Points, and you've got yourself one hell of a great deal. If you loved the original game, you'll love it again.
