Excellent for Beginners, Decent for Jaded experts.

User Rating: 7.7 | Holy Magic Century N64
I started playing Quest 64 when I first received a Nintendo 64 in 1997. This RPG has a huge world and a very unique combat system, combining real time and turn based combat.

Gameplay - 6/10
Most of your time in quest is spent running around to different towns, killing monsters and solving puzzles. The combat system is quite enjoyable but gets old quickly however the boss fights are very fun if a bit long. Another important part of the game is the spell system, in it there are four categories matching the four elements; earth, wind, water, and fire. Out of the 30-40 spells I haven't seen any that aren't useful and many are key for certain battles. Graphics - 8/10
The graphics in Quest while rudimentary, are quite good for their time and comparing it to other early N64 games are pretty top-of-the-line. Each creature and spell are unique and the terrain is well done.

Sound - 6/10
The sound in Quest will wear on your nerves eventually but not until you've played far into the game and some music you will enjoy until you've actually beaten it

Value - 9/10
With this game easily found at most store for 1-5$ this game is defiantly worth it if you enjoy older RPGs

Reviewer's Tilt - 9/10
This game is a classic and I think it deserves a better score than what it's been given. I would recommend it to younger folk especially but if you are in the mood for a long, slow, RPG, buy it
