How many times has releasing first actually worked?
The Dreamcast got stomped by the PS2, and the 360 got stomped by the Wii.
When you release doesn't matter. What matters is whether you can provide something that people want.
The Wii-U has the advantage of being the first one out of the gate, but that also means that it could be made irrelevant by the Nextbox and the PS4. It depends on a hell of a lot of things.
You can't plan for successes like the PS2, the Wii, or the DS. They just happen.

NES released first and became first.
SNES released 2. but still won
PS 1 launched first and became first.
PS2 released first(DC doesnt count as it flopped because of other reasons) and became first
Xbox 360 launched first and became first in th HD console battle.
WII U releases first and becomes first despite inferior graphics, because NINTENDO is KING.PS4 and Xbox 720 become Sony and Microsoft last console, just like PS VIta is Sonys last handheld.
He still has a point though. Just because a system releases first, doesn't mean it will always win. Nintendo would have to do a lot of things right in order for that to happen.well the chances are much higher if it releases first.I would say 85% chance unless Nintendo completely fu*ks up like Sony fu*ked up with the PS3 earlier in the gen.
