Do parents have no idea of video games? Yes! This survey prooves it once more. This is a generation comflict. Once our generation is the parent generation I guess the whole conflict will be gone just like it was with rock music some decades ago. The best proof is most probably however that those games get consumed all around the world, the problems with violent acts lies mainly in the U.S. however...

Anyway, while I do think games are used as a scapegot I think the violence in games should at least be discussed. I understand most people here, my fellow gamers, feel stigmatized and therefore dont listen to any argument whatsoever.

Look around the big gaming sites. Except the big sports and racing franchises the vast majority of big IPs is about some dude or chick wielding a gun or a sword and killing all his opponents. That most often gets even glorified in "cool" coreograhped kill moves..Its not always been like this, but in the past decade videogames have become very violent in general. Just go through you game collections and filter out all those games where you need to shoot or slash at somebody, there won't be much left in your shelf...

Dont get me wrong, I'm a grown-up person and I do enjoy a lot of the games that get discussed (the gta series the most), but the tendencies towards violence ing game design truly has become huge. That should at least be discussed...

Yes, cause the size of the country is the problem.... Seriously guys, you just don't want the gun laws to change... Stop making arguments that make no sense or do not have any value... All statisitcs that measure gun violence and the death rate for gun violence are counted per 100 inhabitants. And in all statistics the US are WAY off from all other industrialized countries. Its undeniable, but being so much in love with the right of owning guns you just ignore the facts...

Nothing is gonna change anyway. The gun laws wont be changed because in the end most of the US population doesnt want them too. You either change something abosultely irrelevant like mirroring potentially mentally ill people (even if that means giving up more of you so beloved freedom). Tell you what: There will always be mentally ill people, and yes guns dont kill people, and there are further factors like a culture of violence in the media. All true. But by changing the gun laws you could easily change something. All statistics from other countries proove that.. Sure, its the man who pulls the trigger not the gun, but without the gun no skinny guy could shoot almost 30 people. Similar tragedies happen in other counries too, but they happen FAR less often and have FAR less casualties, cause the shooters dont have such easy access to this kind of firewpower. I'm sure you are shocked by the shooting but your unwillingness to truly change or correct the mistake, eventhough you know something is truly wrong just renders you as hypocrits...

Dont get me wrong though:

There is a lot of great things about the US just to be clear!! But this hypocrism or the argument : "we cant change anything anyway because of Mexico..." are discusting. Sure its complicated and there most probably is no easy solution that will work right away. But if the US truly is the great nation that you guys keep celebrating over and over you should pull though, fight for the right thing, even if there will be further repercussions, and get this mess sorted..
