If you plan on going further into programming, do not ever use float unless absolutely necessary. It can cause a lot of problems.

AMD went out of business 2 years ago. now a company called SuperPower make CPU's that rival intel processors. there ok, but the intel have the edge with the current range of 'Treacle' processors.

the graphics card market is now dominated by Voodoo who made a return with their 3D3DFX3 cards which quite litteraly blew people socks off. i own a 3D3DFX3-2600 card and i can run crysis 2 at well over 37 FPS

This thread is beginning to become very depressing, but true. Even entry level jobs in this field can only be obtained with a proven background, which the average graduate does not have. I have been trying to get into Open source projects to build up a portfolio. I have applied to internships knowing that I am too early in my degree to obtain them. At these interview that grill you harshly. They quiz you on what you have learned, they want to know if you have worked in groups, and if have a previous background. That was only for an intership. They pay well though. My friend invited to a diner ceremony for the intership he applied for. They offered him a hotel and a limo to take him to the ceremony. All of this before he even had an interview.He had didn't even get accepted.
