I agree that the price is very competitive when compared to Diablo 3. But, I am basing my conclusion based on my play in Diablo 2 and not Diablo 3. Given a chance, I will happily play Diablo 2 instead of Torchlight.
Let me clarify what i actually meant when i said it was cartoonish. Diablo 2 was a 2D game. I enjoyed it. So i dont care about the graphics much. In fact, Torchlight graphics is far better than Diablo 2 and is in 3D. What im saying is that the boss does not feel like a boss. He does not seem to dominate the environment. He pretty much looks like all the guys you faced before. The music does not feel like a dungeon crawler too, despite the fact that most of Torchlight happens at various levels as you descend through the mines. Also to your response, have you played any of the Diablo games? Diablo is much harder than Torchlight. You dont even have the fog of war in Torchlight. Why do u think people have been playing Diablo for the past 7 years?
I had pre-ordered both Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2. I got a free Torchlight game with the pre-order. After playing that and seeing this live stream i am very disappointed. I dont care much about the graphics, but having played Diablo 2 before, I feel that this game sucks. There is a lot of loot, but the environment and music are really worse. I dont want to compare it to Diablo, but there is no feeling of dread, the surrounding environment does not reflect the general mood of that place. The monsters are ok, but feel very cartoonish and you do not feel a sense of achievement after reaching a particular boss. When a game like this is developed by the same developers who were involved in Diablo and Diablo 2, I expected better.
