Game is much shorter than P1, beside main missions and blackwatch missions there is nothing to do, some colectibles but since now u have proximity alert to colectible its no fun to search. I dont want to sound negative but game feels dumbed down too much. And main protagonist of game... most stereotypical angry afroamerican mixed with marine mentality.

I think you're forgetting about the side events. I've played a few of them, though I'm only 6 hours into the game. I've tried one where you need to throw 4 barrels into a trash incinerator while taking bazooka fire, and another 2 which involve 2 types of air spike devastators. Only got the gold once so far.

But yeah, it is dumbed down too much. Most games expand with sequels, things like new additions but also bigger maps. This feels more like a spinoff than a sequel. It's like the first game if they just trapped you in the Bronx for the first half.

I had similar problems with Arkham City, as well as other glitches, all of which went away when I stopped my computer from loading Steam Client Server. Prototype 2 runs off Steam, but after running the P2 install, which included Steam, probably because of what I did, the game runs fine. If you really must, as a last resort you can try ininstalling P2, run msconfig and disable Steam Client Services from the Services tab and restart. Then reinstall P2.

Get an X-Box 360 controller for PC. I put off doing this for a long, long time because I preferred to use the keyboard, but after they started making almost all games require that you control the camera in addition to movement rather than being the same keys, I finally broke down. It's made things so much easier, even car racing. You would not believe.

The reason I say to get a 360 is that other controllers seem more fragile. I went through a whole mess of them before going 360, and even then I only did because it was the only one available at the time. That was 2 years ago, and I haven't replaced my controller since. There has been damage from wear and tear, but zero damage from dropping. They come wireless, now, too.

Oh, and to answer your question: It's the A button, the same as the jump button.

I don't know where that quote is from, but the words "ransom" and "shepherd" are misspelled. Is that intentional?

Problem isolated.  Definitely the Steam Client Server.

It's confirmed now.  Steam Client Server is definitely what was slowing me down and glitching the chopper scene.  I hope they iron out this problem in the future, but until then I will avoid games that run off Steam if at all possible.

Okay, no one is answering but I think I've isolated the problem. I began by disabling everything on the Services tab of the Windows Configuration Manager. Actually I started with the Startup tab, but that got me nowhere. Anyhow, when I did that I created new problems but the game started up faster than I've ever seen it.

There are over a hundred services on that tab, so I won't go into details, but I narrowed it down to four processes which, when disabled, enabled me to get past the glitch. these are picasa updater, adaptive brightness, snmp trap, and steam client service. Two of those are normal functions on my laptop and while the updater might slow things down a little, the only resource hog I know for sure on that list is Steam. So I enabled everything but that and the game still loads fast and the graphics run more smoothly than before.

Unfortunately, because of AC's autosave feature, I won't know for sure if Steam is the culprit without playing the game over because as soon as I successfully detached from the chopper the game saved right over the part I needed to keep in order to test it. As things stand, I suspect that Steam is responsible for many of the problems I've had also with Skyrim not running as smoothly as I'd like. It's a shame because I like the service.

I've no reason to think anyone else is having this problem at this point, but when I know for sure I will post it in case someone needs it.

I've been having problems with that too. As near as I can tell it has something to do with Steam Client Service, because when I disable it under the Services tab in msconfig the problem goes away. I don't know what you can do if you're running the steam version of Arkham City though.

The reason you're having trouble with the Demon training session is that it involves a lot of power diving, and power dives in AC are graphics intensive. This makes it real hard to do the AR training, as the swooping motion of coming out of the dives causes the entire city to come into view at wild angles and that's when the animation stutters. I've narrowed it down to four services, but Steam seems to be the only likely suspect to me, as two of the services (snmp trap and adaptive brightness) are normal functions on my laptop and the other, picasa updater, might slow things a little, but doesn't have anything to do with graphics or games at all.

What really ticks me off about all this is that I'd have isolated the problem by now if AC only allowed me to save my game without recording over it the minute anything happens. I know it's one of the four services because whatever was slowing me down also prevented me from detaching from the Tyger chopper after Batman Downloads the master control program. He would just ride along with the helicopter after that. When I disabled them the game would start more quickly and animations ran more smoothly, but the proof was being able to disengage from the chopper and continue the game. As soon as that happened I shut down the game, but autosave had already done its work.

At any rate, I reactivate the other three and AR training works fine. So if you're running AC off of Steam I suggest either living with the problem as is or spending the extra money at your local store and getting the game on DVD and disabling Steam Client Service.

I would also complain to Steam, as I'm pretty sure this is slowing down anything that runs off of it. Skyrim uses SCS even if you buy it on disc, and that game has mucho graphics glitches. They really need to do something about this

After getting used to AC controls I finally started playing AA in earnest. The gameplay in Asylum is not as linear as I'd feared, which for me is a big bonus. They are both open-world environments- that is, AH lets you wander freely around the world, though each area requires its own loading time- just AC is a lot bigger and the camera in AH focuses a bit closer. They are different enough that both are worth playing, but if I had to choose one over the other it would be Arkham City. If for no other reason than the ability to power glide through the streets. I just wish the game didn't demand so much from my video card. I have a powerful computer, icore 7 with 3gb geforce gtx 560 but still have trouble with the AR sessions because of choppy framerate. Even so, awesome game. Not many open-handed fighters in an open-world environment out there, and none this good by far!
