What happened to games being about fun?

Anyways, story isn't just about dialogue and character development.. it's about the characters adventure too. Mario doesn't have much in the way of plot twists or deep character development(in this platformer), but it has alot of charm. Bowser kidnapping the princess is not original on paper, but in this game its done with charm. You want to advance, you want to face bowser as he's more menacing and amazing then he has ever been! But where mario really shines is the extraordinary locales he vists, its his journey that is the real story here. Mario's adventure is colourful and full of imagination, that's his story.. ANd it's imaginative and brilliant.

THen there's the side story of Rosalina and the luma's, an optional story you can either pass or view by going to the library.

LastRedMage
fun=6 or 7, original, fun, and with deep character development=8 or 9

I don't understand. There are two complaints here (as displayed). The rating system AND the actual game itself!

No offense, but really, EVERYTHING matters. I mean, really. You can't have a game with the best plot ever but no level design! That's called a book. You can't have a game with excellent level design & no plot! That's called a floorplan. So let's get back to what matters. Does Mario really deserve a 9.5 or not?

The wii so far is considered the main technology of the time. But really, it is a technology advance in an ocean of others.
Example: The EyetoyDoesn't require batteries like the wiimote. You actually move yourself, not just swinging two remotes at a screen. The Eyetoy probably has a wider range of movement than the wii (with that tiny sensor bar, the range is minimal.).
The Eyetoy is more expensive and probably very few games play on it but it is still a technology that is working it's way into the gaming world.
Any other technologies there?

The pc was made for many things. Gaming is not one in a perfect sense, but still. With the millions of things that the pc is already equipped to take on, couldn't gaming be just marked off for another feature? Or is it time that maybe we gamers say that gaming is off-limits?
So guys, I want to know your opinion on this.
Think about it carefully

The graphics don't matter to me. The game is the thing that matters for me but, you guys can complain about the graphics, but I'll play a good game.

The wii has bad graphics. The xbox 360 has good graphics. The PS3 does too. Keep in mind though that some pretty good games are on the wii. So it doesn't matter that the graphics are good or bad, it just matters what you care about in a game.

Turok for the N64 was the first game to have two sources of directional input, Which in a way could be considered duel analong.
However, the N64 was the first well known system to have two analog sticks.

Planeforger

LOL lets make this clear only ONE damn analog stick on the N64!! But it is a good point as yes that did revolutionize console gaming.

He meant that the c-buttons doubled as a second analogue stick - which is true, since you'd use the analogue stick to move and the c-buttons to aim, in exactly the same way that you'd play FPS games on a dual-analogue controller (although less precise, obviously).

Back on topic, I wouldn't be suprised if Microsoft also adopts motion controls for their games next gen, but I doubt that they would be the focus of any of the next-gen consoles.

The analog stick was an obvious revolution but gaming has gone back to the sordid level of little advances and fidgetings.

If the PC monopolized again, Nintendo would be dead. The Xbox would also be one of the only consoles.
Bad times
