There's a picture floating around on how the TI graphing calculators have stayed in the 80s while every other piece of computing hardware has advanced by leaps and bounds somewhere. In fact I wouldn't consider the TI-8x series any sort of platform if schools didn't require them for exams and such.

Yeah, they are. One of the Crytek developers tweeted that they are currently "cooking" some DX11 effects for the PC version and that players should be patient. The Tweet got deleted so it does seem that they are trying to hold off on giving out information until the patch is formally announced/released. But it definitely is coming at some point.

Hopefully, I hope they don't decide to scrap the idea all together.

Clock for clock, unless you're using 2 high end gpu's, there is little difference between the core 2 generation andeven the sandy bridge (in gaming).

If you're building with, for example, GTX 570 SLI in mind, or you're encoding HD video... you will see a very large perfomance boostcompared toany other quad core processor TC.

If you'replaying Fallout: NV and Dragon Age II...you will not notice much of a difference... but either way just get that sandy bridge. It's the future of awesome.
